This brief exchange took place across from the Washington DC convention center on May 23, 2011, where the American-Israel Political Affairs Com. (AIPAC) was holding its annual convention which attracted more than 10,000 members and guests including 3/4 of both houses of Congress. As the video opens, the man, an attendee at the conference, has just been told that a young Palestinian (to her right and not shown) has just described how three members of his family had been murdered by the Israelis in Gaza. The woman, who was part of the Move Over AIPAC protest across from the convention center, asks him what he thinks about that. What do you think?
Fukushima: 950 Millisieverts Per Hour In Rubble Outside Reactor 3

In this day and age of measuring radiation in “sieverts” at Fukushima I Nuke Plant, anything that measures in “millisieverts” seems like a low radiation and doesn’t even make the news.
Still, TEPCO’s latest “survey map” (contamination map) of the plant shows a radiation from bits of concrete at 950 millisievert/hour on the west side of Reactor 3 (in the map, right below the Reactor 3 building). There’s also a 550 millisievert/hour concrete block on the west side of Reactor 2, which may have flown from Reactor 3.
Spend 15 to 30 minutes handling these concrete bits, and your maximum radiation dose of 250 millisieverts as a radiation worker at Fukushima I Nuke Plant will be reached. For handling the 950 millisieverts/hr concrete bits, radiation workers in France would exceed their level of 20 millisieverts per year in slightly over a minute. For the US radiation workers, their 50 millisieverts per year would be reached in less than 4 minutes.

Actually, the sample was taken on April 21 but only now the researcher is disclosing it.
So, the US NRC’s report in late March that the bits of spent fuel rods were found 1 mile (1.6 kilometer) from the plant was right.

Minute amounts of plutonium have been detected for the first time in soil outside the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Shinzo Kimura of Hokkaido University collected the roadside samples in Okumamachi, some 1.7 kilometers west of the front gate of the power station. They were taken during filming by NHK on April 21st, one day before the area was designated as an exclusion zone.
Professor Masayoshi Yamamoto and researchers at a Kanazawa University laboratory analyzed the samples and found minute amounts of 3 kinds of plutonium.

The head of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Atsushi Saito, was quoted as saying he thought Tepco should go through a court-led restructuring. An exchange spokesman explained that this was Saito’s personal opinion, according to Reuters.With Tepco crashing, the Nikkei average closed at an 11-week low.
Meanwhile more trouble at Fukushima. Radiation jumped to record levels at reactor No. 1 and pools of radioactive water are on the verge of flooding.

The earthquake hits the TBS Webcam at 3:36 and the TEPCO webcam a few seconds later.
The Honshu Earthquake was a 5.6 and occurred at 16:57:37 UTC. You can see the cameras start to shake on the TBS Cam and then after on the TEPCO Cam. The quake was strong enough to move the position of the TEPCO cam and leave it in a “new position”…while you can also see an explosion a little while later at 4:11

Japan’s ever-sneaky Ministry of Education and Science again quietly released 3 sets of simulation maps of WSPEEDI without any press release nor any explanation; this time it was the simulations that they did on March 15. The Reactor 3 that used MOX fuel blew up on March 14 at 11:01AM JST.
Last time, the Ministry put out on May 10 the WSPEEDI simulation done on March 25. That simulation, if disclosed in a timely manner, may have prevented many, many children from developing thyroid cancer in the future.
One set of the maps is about krypton-85 surface concentration. The maps show the band extending well beyond Tokyo and Kanagawa.
That at least proves one thing, that Tokyo and Kanagawa were probably bombarded with radioactive materials on March 15. I remember seeing posts in Japanese message boards that day and afterwards saying people had a metallic taste in their mouth that day, that people started to have nosebleed and fell ill. Both were attacked and dismissed as “malicious rumors”.
All the government needed to do was to warn people in Tokyo and Kanto area that day to skip work and school. Shut the doors and windows and stay indoors.
When Hiroaki Koide of Kyoto University testified on May 23 in a government committee (Upper House, government oversight committee), the data he said he had been told by his superior not to publish was the data of radiation in Tokyo on March 15.
But why were the government experts interested in krypton-85? What does krypton-85 represent? And iodine-129? (The simulation maps are only about krypton-85; they are still sitting on iodine-129 maps or any other maps of other nuclides.)
