A Very Disturbing and Powerful Post – “Get Your Loved Ones Off Facebook”

A Very Disturbing and Powerful Post – “Get Your Loved Ones Off Facebook” (Liberty Blitzkrieg, Feb 5, 2015):

“Oh yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask you why you’re getting off Facebook,” is the guilty and reluctant question I’m hearing a lot these days. Like we kinda know Facebook is bad, but don’t really want to know.

I’ve been a big Facebook supporter – one of the first users in my social group who championed what a great way it was to stay in touch, way back in 2006. I got my mum and brothers on it, and around 20 other people. I’ve even taught Facebook marketing in one of the UK’s biggest tech education projects, Digital Business Academy. I’m a techie and a marketer — so I can see the implications — and until now, they hadn’t worried me. I’ve been pretty dismissive towards people who hesitate with privacy concerns.

With this latest privacy change on January 30th, I’m scared.

– From Salim Varani’s blogpost: Get Your Loved Ones Off Facebook

I never heard of Salim Varani before today, but when I came across his blogpost “Get Your Loved Ones Off Facebook,” it immediately piqued my interest given my less than positive feelings toward the company. It took on an even greater degree of importance in my mind considering that I had just finished reading what appeared to be a Facebook puff piece at Fusion.net about how the company, guided by “privacy sherpa” Yul Kwon, was suddenly making user privacy a core focus. It read like a PR release. Here are a few excerpts:

Evidence emerges that measles outbreaks are deliberately encouraged by Big Pharma to ignite vaccine hysteria (Natural News, Feb 5, 2015):

While the mainstream media is busy making a mockery of itself with runaway hysteria “witch hunt” hate speech against parents who choose not to poison their children with toxic vaccines, the real story on the measles outbreak remains entirely unreported in any mainstream media outlet.

Sherri Tenpenny, DO: The Many Disorders That Come From Iodine Deficiency (Video)

As much as I would like to recommend different varieties of seaweed (not just because of their high iodine content), I can’t.

Even before Fukushima and the Gulf oil ‘spill’ seaweed has been highly contaminated with arsenic, mercury and other heavy metals.

I also highly recommend NOT to eat any other kind of seafood as it is all heavily contaminated.

Eurogroup Gives Greece 10 Day Ultimatum: Apply For Bailout Or Grexit

Eurogroup Gives Greece 10 Day Ultimatum: Apply For Bailout Or Grexit (ZeroHedge, Feb 6, 2015):

Update: And now this: Moody’s places Greece’s Caa1 government bond rating on review for downgrade

The key driver for the review for downgrade is the high level of uncertainty over the outcome of the negotiations between Greece and its official creditors over the terms of Greece’s support programmer. The outcome could potentially have negative implications for Greece’s ability to meet its funding and liquidity needs and for the probability of default on marketable securities. Moody’s government bond rating applies to marketable securities only.

Moody’s would consider downgrading Greece’s Caa1 government bond ratings were it to conclude, as a result of the review, that (1) an agreement with official creditors is not likely to be reached in time to enable the government to repay its creditors who hold debt on commercial terms; and (2) that the likelihood of a significant deceleration or even reversal in the implementation of the adjustment programmer would further hinder Greece’s growth prospects.

Surely Greece must be delighted to be part of the European “Union” at this point.

And the hits keep coming. On the heels of a demand for repayment of ECB’s profits from GGB bond gains and to extend the T-Bill limit to give the nation time to negotiate with EU leaders (i.e. a Bridge Loan) which Jeroen Dijsselbloem already dismissed earlier in the day, S&P just piled on…

Greeks take to the streets to support government’s anti-austerity stance (RT, Feb 6, 2015):

Thousands have attended a pro-government rally in Athens to demonstrate their opposition to anti-austerity measures. The meeting passed off peacefully, and the public gave a collective thumbs-up to the newly elected Greek government.

Police estimated the gathering on Syntagma Square outside the country’s parliament at around 5,000. No unrest was reported, which was in stark contrast to 2012, when violent protests erupted at the height of the Greek economic crisis.

Catastrophic Shutdown Of America's Supply Chain Looms As West Coast Port Worker Talks Break Down

“Catastrophic Shutdown Of America’s Supply Chain Looms” As West Coast Port Worker Talks Break Down (ZeroHedge, Feb 5, 2015):

For those who have been following the recent ISM reports, one of the recurring concerns of respondents in both the manufacturing and service sector has been the congestion at West Coast Ports – which handled 43.5% of containerized cargo in the U.S and where transiting cargo accounted for 12.5% of US GDP – as a result of reduced work output by the local unions who have been more focused in recent weeks on ongoing wage hike negotiations.

Shunned Greece Agrees To Boost Economic Cooperation With Russia

This-Is-Sparta300-This-Is-Sparta-Kick

Shunned Greece Agrees To Boost Economic Cooperation With Russia (ZeroHedge, Feb 5, 2015):

It’s been an odd few days for Greece’s new PM Alexis Tsipras. From being lambasted by Jeroen Dijsselbloem, shunned by Angela Merkel’s henchmen, holding hands with Jean-Claude Juncker, and losing a key funding channel from Mario Draghi; Tsipras’ anti-austerity platform has been ‘supported’ by Barack Obama and he has been invited for a visit to Russia by Vladimir Putin, and reminded that Russia is willing (and able) to provide financial aid if asked by finance minister Anton Siluanov. So headlines this evening from ekathimerini should not be entirely surprising that Putin and Tsipras have agreed to boost cooperation in the economy and energy, tourism, culture and transport sectors; and discussed the possible creation of a pipeline to carry natural gas from Russia to Europe via Turkey and Greece.

Greece: The Big Picture Update, And Why Deutsche Bank Thinks Europe Will Fold

Greece: The Big Picture Update, And Why Deutsche Bank Thinks Europe Will Fold (ZeroHedge, Feb 5, 2015):

The Greek situation summaries Greece by Deutsche Bank’s George Saravelos have consistently been among the best in the entire sellside. His latest Greek update, which is a must read for anyone who hasn’t been following the fluid developments out of southeast Europe, which fluctuate not on an hourly but on a minute basis, does not disappoint.

But while his summary of events is great, what is of far greater significance is his conclusion, namely that ultimately Europe will fold: “we consider the most likely outcome to be a Eurogroup offer of a new Third program” and “given that the current program expires this February the offer to negotiate a new Third program may provide political room for the government to sit on the negotiating table. At the same time such an offer is very likely to be attached to strict conditions, with the willingness to accommodate t-bill issuance an open question. Developments overnight suggest that this has become less likely, imposing maximum pressure on the government to reach agreement within a matter of weeks.”

It Will Now Cost You 0.75% To Save Money In Denmark: Danish Central Bank Cuts Rates For FOURTH Time In Three Weeks (ZeroHedge, Feb 5, 2015):

Effective from 6 February 2015, Danmarks Nationalbank’s interest rate on certificates of deposit is reduced by 0.25 percentage points to -0.75 per cent. The lending rate, the discount rate and the current account rate remain unchanged at 0.05 per cent, 0.0 per cent and 0.0 per cent, respectively.

Putin Invites Tsipras To Visit Russia (ZeroHedge, Feb 5, 2015):

While Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis’ comments that “we will never ask for financial assistance in Moscow,” which notably does not deny acceptance of aid if offered, and Greek Minister of Energy Panagiotis Lafazanis adding that Athens opposes the embargo imposed on Moscow, “we have no disagreement with Russia and the Russian people,” it is perhaps not surprising that, as Vedemosti reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with the new Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras, congratulated him on taking office, and invited him to Russia.
