Someone You Love: Coming To A Gulag Near You

Someone You Love: Coming to a Gulag Near You (Information Clearing House, April 02, 2012):

The security and surveillance state does not deal in nuance or ambiguity. Its millions of agents, intelligence gatherers, spies, clandestine operatives, analysts and armed paramilitary units live in a binary world of opposites, of good and evil, black and white, opponent and ally. There is nothing between. You are for us or against us. You are a patriot or an enemy of freedom. You either embrace the crusade to physically eradicate evildoers from the face of the Earth or you are an Islamic terrorist, a collaborator or an unwitting tool of terrorists. And now that we have created this monster it will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to free ourselves from it. Our 16 national intelligence agencies and army of private contractors feed on paranoia, rumor, rampant careerism, demonization of critical free speech and often invented narratives. They justify their existence, and their consuming of vast governmental resources, by turning even the banal and the mundane into a potential threat. And by the time they finish, the nation will be a gulag.

This is why the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which was contested by me and three other plaintiffs before Judge Katherine B. Forrest in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday, is so dangerous. This act, signed into law by President Barack Obama last Dec. 31, puts into the hands of people with no discernible understanding of legitimate dissent the power to use the military to deny due process to all deemed to be terrorists, or terrorist sympathizers, and hold them indefinitely in military detention. The deliberate obtuseness of the NDAA’s language, which defines “covered persons” as those who “substantially supported” al-Qaida, the Taliban or “associated forces,” makes all Americans, in the eyes of our expanding homeland security apparatus, potential terrorists. It does not differentiate. And the testimony of my fellow plaintiffs, who understand that the NDAA is not about them but about us, repeatedly illustrated this.

Police And MI5 Get Power To Watch You On The Web

Police and MI5 get power to watch you on the web (Independent, April 2, 2012):

Police and intelligence officers are to be handed the power to monitor people’s messages online in what has been described as an “attack on the privacy” of vast numbers of Britons.

The Home Secretary, Theresa May, intends to introduce legislation in next month’s Queen’s Speech which would allow law-enforcement agencies to check on citizens using Facebook, Twitter, online gaming forums and the video-chat service Skype.

Regional police forces, MI5 and GCHQ, the Government’s eavesdropping centre, would be given the right to know who speaks to whom “on demand” and in “real time”.

From Enron To Sino-Forest – Same Old Song

From Enron To Sino-Forest – Same Old Song (ZeroHedge, Mar 30, 2012)

Enron –> Worldcom –> Adelphia –> Lehman –> MF Global –> Greece –> Sino Forest –> ????

I would rank these as some of the more notorious bankruptcies. These weren’t normal course of business bankruptcies. These were dark and deviant. They have many similarities.

Opaque and convoluted accounting and finances are common to them all. Whether it was Jedi for Enron, repo 105 for Lehman, or off-market swaps with Goldman for Greece, they all used every trick in the book to keep debt off balance sheet and to obfuscate the risk.

Chinese Students Told To Man Production Lines At Foxconn If They Want To Graduate

Apple’s Chinese iPhone plants employ forced interns, claim campaigners (Guardian, April 1, 2012):

Students told to man production lines at Foxconn if they want to graduate, says Hong Kong-based nonprofit

Apple’s factories in China are employing tens of thousands of students, some of them on forced internships, according to campaigners lobbying for better labour conditions at Foxconn plants, which assemble iPhones. Some students could be as young as 16.

The Foxconn chairman, Terry Gou, head of China’s largest private-sector employer – with 1.2 million workers – promised on Sunday to reduce hours and improve pay after an independent audit found multiple labour law violations at his factories.

But campaigners have accused Apple, Foxconn and the Fair Labor Association (FLA), a charitable organisation that carried out the audit published on Friday, of ignoring the issue of forced internships, where students are told they will not graduate unless they spend months working on production lines during holidays.

Safe Seed Company List (Organic And Heirloom)

Farm Wars Safe Seed Company List (Farm Wars, April 1, 2012):

The following is a list of seed companies that provide organic and heirloom seed varieties. These companies have no ties to biotech interests, and do not get their seeds from Monsanto. There are several companies on my research list that still need to provide information about their seed sources, so this is a work in progress. If you find out that any information on this list is outdated or just plain wrong, please let me know so that I can update it. Thank you for all your input on this project!

US draws up plans for nuclear drones (Guardian, April 2, 2012):

Technology is designed to increase flying time ‘from days to months’, along with power available for weapons systems

American scientists have drawn up plans for a new generation of nuclear-powered drones capable of flying over remote regions of the world for months on end without refuelling.

The blueprints for the new drones, which have been developed by Sandia National Laboratories – the US government’s principal nuclear research and development agency – and defence contractor Northrop Grumman, were designed to increase flying time “from days to months” while making more power available for operating equipment, according to a project summary published by Sandia.

“It’s pretty terrifying prospect,” said Chris Coles of Drone Wars UK, which campaigns against the increasing use of drones for both military and civilian purposes. “Drones are much less safe than other aircraft and tend to crash a lot. There is a major push by this industry to increase the use of drones and both the public and government are struggling to keep up with the implications.”

The highly sensitive research into what is termed “ultra-persistence technologies” set out to solve three problems associated with drones: insufficient “hang time” over a potential target; lack of power for running sophisticated surveillance and weapons systems; and lack of communications capacity.

Bitcoin, The City Traders’ Anarchic New Toy (Reuters)

Bitcoin, the City traders’ anarchic new toy (Reuters, April 2, 2012):

Financial traders have a new toy: Bitcoin, a digital currency variously dismissed as a Ponzi scheme or lauded as the greatest invention since the Internet.

Unlike conventional fiat money and other digital currencies, Bitcoin runs through a peer-to-peer network, independent of central control. Bitcoins are currently worth $4.88 (3.05 pounds) each on online currency exchanges, where they can be bought and sold for about 15 world currencies.

Users – an odd assortment of uber-geeks, anarchists, libertarians, scammers and forex traders – sent about $4.3 million worth to each other in the last 24 hours.

Banking and payment expert Simon Lelieveldt believes they are living on borrowed time.

Hate Full-Body Scanners, Pat-Downs And Slow Going At TSA Airport Security Screening Checkpoints? For $100 The TSA Airport Nightmare!

$100 to Fly Through the Airport (Wall Street Journal, Mar 19, 2012):

Hate the full-body scans, pat-downs and slow going at TSA airport security screening checkpoints? For $100, you can now bypass the hassle.

The Transportation Security Administration is rolling out expedited screening at big airports called “Precheck.” It has special lanes for background-checked travelers, who can keep their shoes, belt and jacket on, leave laptops and liquids in carry-on bags and walk through a metal detector rather than a full-body scan. The process, now at two airlines and nine airports, is much like how screenings worked before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Another False Flag Operation: The Toulouse Murders

Gladio anyone?

Toulouse:

Sinister Sites – Illuminati Pyramid in Blagnac, France (Vigilant Citizen):

Located in a suburb of Toulouse, the “Place de la Révolution” is probably one of the most blatant displays of Illuminati designs in existence: a huge pyramid hovering atop a map of the world. The symbolic meaning of this structure reveals a rather grim and elitist ideology and seems to confirm the conspiracy theorist’s claims: the world is lead by a secret cabal named the Illuminati.

Guilt and Identity Politics: The Toulouse Murders (CounterPunch, April 02, 2012):

Paris — The current French presidential election campaign was rudely interrupted at its very start by a series of murders in and around the southwestern city of Toulouse.   On March 11, a paratrooper was shot dead by a mysterious motorcyclist in Toulouse.  Four days later, in the nearby garrison town of Montauban, two more paratroopers were shot dead in similar circumstances.  Then, four days after that, early in the morning of March 21 in a residential neighborhood of Toulouse, a helmeted gunman approached a Jewish school and coolly shot dead a rabbi and three children at point blank range before driving off on his motorcycle.

AND NOW: Obese Pregnant Women Given Diabetes Pills To Reduce Size Of Babies In The Womb

‘In a world first trial’ = Pregnant mothers used as guinea pigs

‘Researchers are hoping’ = They have not the foggiest idea what they are doing

What could possibly go wrong?

Obesity treated in the womb (Herald Sun, April 02, 2012):

  • Obese women given diabetes pills in drug trial
  • Aim to reduce the size of their babies in the womb
  • “Saying at that stage to eat less is not particularly helpful”

OBESE mothers are being given diabetes pills to reduce the chance of them having a fat baby.

In a world first trial, 400 overweight pregnant women in the UK and Scotland will be prescribed metformin – a drug that has been used for decades to treat diabetes and is cleared for pregnancy.

Researchers are hoping that taking metformin from the second trimester onwards will have result in smaller babies and cut the risk of stillbirth, maternal death and cardiovascular disease.

The trial has angered many health experts who say overweight mothers should be encouraged to exercise and eat properly rather than just pop a pill to produce a thinner baby.
