Destroying Iraq’s Cultural Heritage
The fundamentalist retro-gang that has conquered Northern Iraq has decided it needs to go Taliban on cultural monuments it disapproves of. One of the most recent outrages was the destruction of the tomb of Yunus, better known in the West as the prophet Jonah (yes, the biblical one who spent some time in the belly of a whale). Jonah is one of the prophets revered by both Christians and Muslims, so the motivation is not entirely clear. However, this is by far not the only ancient religious site ISIS has destroyed in the vicinity of Mosul. Reportedly the group has by now destroyed some 30 ancient shrines, churches, mosques and Hussainiyas in the area of Mosul alone. Oddly, this included at least four Sunni mosques, so there appears to be a certain degree of arbitrariness to these actions. Yazidi monuments are of course also on the list of things ISIS destroys whenever an occasion presents itself.
In short, the group is not only killing people that don’t conform to its harsh version of Islam, it is also trying to erase all traces of their history and culture. It cares not one whit how old or unique these buildings and monuments are. For instance, the mosque of Yunus was built on an archeological site the oldest parts of which date back to the 8th century BC. In short, there are buildings in Iraq that have survived 2,800 years of upheaval and strife, but they haven’t survived the coming of ISIS. Apparently ISIS considers all the shrines and mosques it destroys “places of apostasy”. In the course of its rampage it has also burned the books of the Diyala province’s library, so reading is apparently a no-no for ISIS as well.

Who is responsible for the disaster in Iraq?
Some blame the US for its calamitous invasion and occupation. Others fault Iraqis, pointing to sectarianism, corruption and incompetence.
But on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inadvertently revealed the truth: The tragedy in Iraq (like similar tragedies in Syria, Libya, Sudan and elsewhere) was made in Israel. All of these countries have been destabilized as part of Israel’s Oded Yinon plan to balkanize the Middle East.
Speaking at a Tel Aviv University think tank, Netanyahu declared Israel’s support for the destruction of Iraq to make way for an independent Kurdish state. Israel “should support the Kurdish aspiration for independence,” Netanyahu announced, celebrating the success of Israel’s plan to ignite sectarian strife in key Middle Eastern countries and set the stage for their fragmentation.

It is a geopolitical mess of epic proportions, and there don’t seem to be any easy solutions on the horizon.
To say that the new Iraqi army has been incompetent would be a massive understatement. Not only have they run away like scared kittens from these jihadists, they have also left behind staggering amounts of weaponry for them. According to the Los Angeles Times, ISIS has captured “the weapons stores of the 2nd and 3rd [Iraqi army] divisions in Mosul, the 4th division in Salah al Din, the 12th division in the areas near Kirkuk, and another division in Diyala”. Today is Independence Day in America.
Every July 4th, Americans grill hamburgers and set off fireworks in honor of the Founding Fathers’ war of independence against British monarch King George III.
With every passing day, more and more Americans want to break their chains and declare independence. But this time, instead of breaking free of Great Britain, they wish to declare their independence from the Middle East.
The US is trapped in a ruinous web of dependency with the Middle East. Since 2003 America has annihilated what was left of its economy pursuing Mideast wars that are not in its interest. Economist Joseph Stiglitz wrote in 2008 that the Iraq war had cost at least $3 trillion, and would likely exceed $5 trillion. Such sums represent multiples of the US gross domestic product (GDP). This enormous expenditure on pure folly is responsible for the immiseration that has afflicted the American people since Goldman Sachs pulled the plug on the global financial system on September 11th, 2008.

A group of jihadists claiming to be part of ISIS have vowed to invade Spain along with all other “occupied lands” in a video posted on the web.
The men say Spain is the land of their forefathers and that they are prepared to die for their nascent Islamic State.
The video of two men claiming to be militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has taken the Spanish media by storm. The minute-long footage shows them speaking in Spanish, and saying that ISIS will take over Spain.
“I tell you, Spain is the land of our forefathers, and, Allah willing, we are going to liberate it, with the might of Allah,” says one of the men. He adds that the group won’t stop at Spain and intends to spread its Islamic Caliphate across the world.
“I say to the entire world as a warning: We are living under the Islamic banner, the Islamic Caliphate. We are going to die for it until we liberate all the occupied lands, from Jakarta to Andalusia,” he said.

ISIS fighters have seized an oilfield on the Syria-Iraq border, snatching it from the control of rival militants. The Pentagon has said while it considers the Iraqi Army capable of defending Baghdad, outside aid may be required to repel the jihadists.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the key oil field in the Deir al-Zor province had fallen under the control of fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) on Thursday.
“ISIS took control of the Al-Omar oil field,” located north of the strategic town of Mayadin, also under its control since dawn Thursday, said the Observatory.The group cited an amateur video that was posted on YouTube purporting to show the capture of the oilfield. The footage shows a bearded man who is identified by the cameraman as Commander Hommam boasting that the field was taken without a single shot being fired.
“We took it [the oil field] over without any fighting. They fled like rats,” the commander said, referring to fighters from the Syrian opposition group al-Nusra who had previously been controlling the oilfield.

Radio talk show veteran and 10 time published author, Steve Quayle, says dark powers are at work in the financial markets at the highest levels of global government. Quayle contends, “First of all, the illuminati and the occult are one in the same with hidden meanings to the general population, but announcements to people on the inside.” At the beginning of 2014, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, gave a primer on numerology to an audience at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. She did it as a set up to an official IMF forecast for “what we should expect for 2014.” Why is this important now? The IMF forecast was based on what Lagarde called the “magic 7,” and July is the seventh month of the year. Lagarde is overtly using numerology to forecast big changes this year and this month. For example, Lagarde pointed out that 2014 will “mark the 7th anniversary of the financial market jitters” that started in 2007. If you individually add up the numbers of the year 2014 (2+0+1+4=7), you get the number 7. (G is the 7the letter of the alphabet and this might be a reference to 7/20/2014.) Quayle explains, “People have to understand the number 7 to realize why this is critical. The number 7 is used 287 times; it’s used in the Old and New Testament. What is critical about this is these people rule their lives by the stars and numerology. Never in anything have I monitored in my 25 years being on talk radio that I have witnessed such a blatant presentation of the number 7.
