The Gold Rush Spreads From China And India To Saudi Arabia

Obama receives a gift from Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah during a meeting at the king's farm outside Riyadh

The Gold Rush Spreads From China And India To Saudi Arabia (ZeroHedge, Dec 24, 2013):

In the “west”, the higher the price of gold rose, the more demand there seemingly was by momentum-chasing gamblers investors, if only for paper certificates claiming to represent gold, or GLD as the case may be. Conversely, once the momentum turned, the same investors couldn’t be bothered with gld (sic) even at 30% lower. At the same time, in the “east” the higher the price of gold rose, the lower the demand was for physical, which for that extinct breed of deranged gambler known as “value investor” is a familiar concept.”  And now that gold’s price is not only back to early 2011 levels, but is essentially below production costs, demand out of China is off the charts. Demand in India – traditionally the greatest in the world – continues to also at unprecedented levels, although now that official purchases of gold are regulated and limited through capital controls, it is forcing the local population to smuggle in gold through the most innovative of schemes.

Pentagon: ‘$8.5 Trillion In Taxpayer Dollars Unaccounted For Since 1996’ (Reuters)

Why the Pentagon’s many campaigns to clean up its accounts are failing (Reuters, Dec 23, 2013):

With its efforts to build reliable accounting systems in disarray, the Pentagon isn’t likely to meet a congressionally mandated 2017 deadline to be audit-ready. All other federal agencies are audited annually, in accordance with a 1990 law, and with rare exceptions, they pass every year. The Pentagon alone has never been audited, leaving roughly $8.5 trillion in taxpayer dollars unaccounted for since 1996, the first year it was supposed to be audited.

Obama Least Popular President In 4 Decades

Obama Least Popular President In 4 Decades (Washington’s Blog, Dec 23, 2013):

Americans Have Lost Faith

A new Washington Post/ABC poll released today shows that Obama is the least popular president in 39 years:

The president’s overall approval rating stands at 43 percent, while disapproval is at 55 percent.

***

Obama ends his fifth year in office with lower approval ratings than almost all other recent two-term presidents. At this point in 2005, for example, former president George W. Bush was at 47 percent positive, 52 percent negative. All other post-World War II presidents were at or above 50 percent at this point in their second terms, except Richard M. Nixon, whose fifth year ended in 1973 with an approval rating of 29 percent because of the Watergate scandal that later brought impeachment and his resignation.

Why is Obama so unpopular?

Because – as horrible as Bush was – Obama is worse than Bush in favoring the super-elite, bailing out the big banks, protecting financial criminals, targeting whistleblowers, keeping government secrets, trampling our liberties and starting military conflicts in new countries.

Charting The Worst Long-Term Unemployment Crisis Since The Depression

Charts: The Worst Long-Term Unemployment Crisis Since the Depression (Bill Moyers, Dec 24, 2013):

Officially, the Great Recession of 2007 ended in June 2009. Yet the economic downturn remains in full effect for millions of Americans, particularly the nearly 40 percent of the unemployed who have been looking for work for six months or more.

In less than a week, emergency federal unemployment benefits for 1.3 million of these jobless Americans are set to run out. Proponents of ending the benefits argue that the economy is expanding and that the benefits prevent people from finding work. “You get out of a recession by encouraging employment not encouraging unemployment,” according to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who opposes extending benefits. However, the data shows that while corporate America has bounced back, it is not restoring all the jobs it shed when the economy tanked five years ago.

100 Years Of Economic Turmoil: Is It Time To ‘End The Fed’?

100 years of economic turmoil: Is it time to ‘End the Fed’? (RT, Dec 23, 2013):

Since the magical moment of its inception on Dec. 23, 1913, the Federal Reserve System has been a source of controversy and even contempt for a growing number of Americans, many of whom are still feeling the sting of the latest financial crisis.

A large part of the discomfort with the Federal Reserve System can be traced back to a dusty document known as the US Constitution, a historic manuscript that predates “The Fed” by 125 years, in which it clearly states (Section 8, Article 5): “Congress shall have power to coin money, regulate the value thereof.”

Yet, despite its officious-sounding title, the Federal Reserve System is not an actual branch of the US government, nor does the US government have any control over its monetary monkeying, which involves the printing of money as well as setting interest rates.

These awesome powers were admitted by no less a respectable figure than Alan Greenspan, who served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006.

Russia Sends Over 75 Armored Trucks To Syria

Russia's President Vladimir Putin attends a news conference in Strelna near St. Petersburg

Russia Sends Over 75 Armored Trucks To Syria (ZeroHedge, Dec 23, 2013):

While the US is debating which set of Al Qaeda “rebels” in Syria is the best local partner for the State Department to provide military support to, once Qatar’s demands for a trans-Syria pipeline return some time in 2014, Vladimir Putin – fresh from his diplomatic coup in the Ukraine – is reinforcing his other major victory in 2013: the preservation of the Assad state, this time however with more than words. As Reuters reports, Russia has sent 25 armored trucks and 50 other vehicles to Syria to help transport toxins that are to be destroyed under an international agreement to rid the nation of its chemical arsenal, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday.

Or in other words, Russia just sent Syria more than 75 military vehicles.

From Reuters:

In a report to President Vladimir Putin, Shoigu said Russian aircraft delivered 50 Kamaz trucks and 25 Ural armored trucks to the Syrian port city of Latakia on December 18-20 along with other equipment, state-run news agency RIA reported.

On The 100th Anniversary Of The Federal Reserve Here Are 100 Reasons To Shut It Down Forever

New-World-Order-13

On The 100th Anniversary Of The Federal Reserve Here Are 100 Reasons To Shut It Down Forever (Economic Collapse, Dec 22, 2013):

December 23rd, 1913 is a date which will live in infamy.  That was the day when the Federal Reserve Act was pushed through Congress.  Many members of Congress were absent that day, and the general public was distracted with holiday preparations.  Now we have reached the 100th anniversary of the Federal Reserve, and most Americans still don’t know what it actually is or how it functions.  But understanding the Federal Reserve is absolutely critical, because the Fed is at the very heart of our economic problems.

Since the Federal Reserve was created, there have been 18 recessions or depressions, the value of the U.S. dollar has declined by 98 percent, and the U.S. national debt has gotten more than 5000 times larger.  This insidious debt-based financial system has literally made debt slaves out of all of us, and it is systematically destroying the bright future that our children and our grandchildren were supposed to have.

If nothing is done, we are inevitably heading for a massive amount of economic pain as a nation.  So please share this article with as many people as you can.

The following are 100 reasons why the Federal Reserve should be shut down forever:

The United States is planning to build two new underground plutonium production labs that will expand plutonium production for the next decades, an analyst says.

“The Senate two days ago voted to authorize the creation of two new huge secret underground plutonium production labs that will expand plutonium production for the next 150 years,” Brian Becker, national coordinator of the A.N.S.W.E.R Coalition, told Press TV on Saturday.

“That is a very important fact and I think the world is not yet learning about it or just learning about it,” he added.

New York Post, Dec. 22, 2013: Navy sailor Lindsay Cooper knew something was wrong when billows of metallic-tasting snow began drifting over USS Ronald Reagan. […] she and scores of crewmates watched a sudden storm blow toward them from the tsunami-torn coast of Fukushima, Japan. The tall 24-year-old with a winning smile didn’t know it then, but the snow was caused by the freezing Pacific air mixing with a plume of radioactive steam […] Senior Chief Michael Sebourn, a radiation-decontamination officer, was assigned to test the aircraft carrier for radiation. The levels were incredibly dangerous and at one point, the radiation in the air measured 300 times higher than what was considered safe, Sebourn told The Post.

The Times of India: ‘Almost Every Passenger On A Flight From Dubai To Calicut Was Found Carrying 1Kg Of Gold’

The Times of India: “Almost Every Passenger on a Flight from Dubai to Calicut Was Found Carrying 1kg of Gold” (Liberty Blitzkrieg, Dec 23, 2013):

Watching Indian bureaucrats attempt to halt more than one billion human beings’ desire for gold has been one of the more entertaining and pathetic stories of all of 2013. It is one that I have covered on many occasions, the latest being my post from earlier this month:  Gold Smuggling Increases 7x in India and Surpasses Illegal Drug Trade.

Well it appears the trend continues, potentially at an accelerated rate, as we just learned that, incredibly, “almost every passenger on a flight from Dubai to Calicut was found carrying 1kg of gold.” As I have said many times in the past, if an Indian wants their gold, they will have their gold.

Making War, Not Peace, in Syria (Veterans Today, Dec 22, 2013):

On January 22, so-called Geneva II peace talks begin in Montreux, Switzerland. On January 24, they’ll continue in Geneva.

They’re dead on arrival before beginning. Radicalized elements dominate anti-Assad forces. They reject peace.

So does Washington. Syria is Obama’s war. US-supported death squads wage it. Obama didn’t target Syria to quit. He wants Assad ousted.

He wants a pro-Western stooge replacing him. He bears full responsibility for what’s happening. He’s been ravaging and destroying Syria since March 2011.
