US Farmers May Stop Planting GMOs After Poor Global Yields

US Farmers May Stop Planting GMs After Poor Global Yields (Cornucopia Institute, Feb 7, 2013):

Some US farmers are considering returning to conventional seed after increased pest resistance and crop failures meant GM crops saw smaller yields globally than their non-GM counterparts.

Farmers in the USA pay about an extra $100 per acre for GM seed, and many are questioning whether they will continue to see benefits from using GMs.

“It’s all about cost benefit analysis,” said economist Dan Basse, president of American agricultural research company AgResource.

Propaganda Alert: “EU Exit Would Cost Britain Up To £215 Billion, German Study Predicts”

From the article:

“… the studies found the cost of a ‘Brexit’ would outweigh the benefits.”

Sure!

And better not take a look at what happened in Iceland and Greenland:

Why is Greenland so rich these days? It said goodbye to the EU!

?EU exit would cost Britain up to £215 billion, German study predicts (RT, April 27, 2014):

A British exit from the European Union could cost the UK billions of pounds, a report published by two German institutes predicts.

The study by Bertelsmann Stiftung and Ifo Institute calculates if the UK leaves the EU the country could lose 14 percent of its GDP – equivalent to £215 billion.

Germany and other EU member states would also lose out financially, although not as much as Britain.

Even if Britain was successful in negotiating a trade agreement with the EU, the studies found the cost of a ‘Brexit’ would outweigh the benefits.

Greece €400 Million Short For Wage And Pension Payments, Rushes To Pass Troika-Friendly Laws

Greece €400 Million Short For Wage And Pension Payments, Rushes To Pass Troika-Friendly Laws (ZeroHedge, April 28, 2015):

There was a brief bout of Greek risk-on euphoria following yesterday’s latest twist in the winding road to the Greek insolvency, in which the Greek finance minister Varoufakis became the latest sacrificial scapegoat to be “Nav Sarao-ed” to the angry gods of the Troika, and has been henceforth kicked out of any negotiations with the Greek “institution” creditors.

The core problem for Greece, however, remains: namely that it is still completely out of money, and as we learned yesterday, the local municipalities have mutinied, and told the government they would not hand over their cash to the central bank without their own conditions being met first, and certainly not before May 7 which may well be too late for Greece.

Which means that suddenly not only does Greece not have the nearly €1 billion in cash it will need to fund May payments to the IMF, but it is suddenly short by €400 million for wage and pension payments.

Greek Municipal Union Refuses To Hand Over “Confiscated” Cash To Central Bank (ZeroHedge, April 27, 2015):

Earlier today, while the European markets were caught in the latest myopic buying frenzy resulting from the hope that an imminent termination of Yanis Varoufakis may mean a Greek debt deal is imminent, the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities of Greece (“KEDE”) held a meeting in which it said that while it “declares it support for the national negotiating effort“, it would not transfer any funds to the Bank of Greece.

BAM! Chipotle goes 100% non-GMO; flatly rejecting the biotech industry and its toxic food ingredients (Natural News, April 27, 2015):

The free market victories against the sleazy biotech industry are coming at a rapid pace now, and the latest announcement is a real game changer: Chipotle Mexican Grill has outright rejected all GMOs and, as of today, is now serving all non-GMO ingredients in its foods.

“When it comes to our food, genetically modified ingredients don’t make the cut,” says an official announcement on the Chipotle website. “…[T]he food we serve should be made with ingredients raised with care for animals, farmers, and the environment. We’re doubtful that the GMO ingredients that used to be in our food meet these criteria.”

The fighting words from Steve Ells very closely mirror the clean food mantra that Natural News has been advocating for years. He says, quoted in the New York Times:

How This Debt-Addicted World Could Go The Way Of The Mayans

How this debt-addicted world could go the way of the Mayans (MarketWatch, April 27, 2015):

Paying a high price for too many elites and their ‘frivolous cravings’.

Nowadays many countries’ social and political structure relies on debt-driven consumption and increasing levels of entitlements.

Blame the policy makers. To drive economic growth, boost living standards, and manage growing inequality, policy makers have used debt and monetary tools to create economic activity. This has resulted in excessive borrowing and imbalances in global trade and capital.

Governments played a part, too, allowing the buildup of social entitlements to win or maintain office. Private companies also encouraged the growth of employee benefits to avoid immediate pressure on wages as well as boost current earnings and share prices.

But such expensive commitments were rarely fully funded.

China Considers Launching QE; Shanghai Stocks Soar (ZeroHedge, April 27, 2015):

Nearly two months ago we explained “How Beijing Is Responding To A Soaring Dollar, And Why QE In China Is Now Inevitable” in which we cited Cornerstone who reminded us “that from 2007 to late 2008, U.S. fed funds dropped 500 bp, and then the Fed still needed to do QE? The backdrop for China looks a bit similar. We had a credit bubble, they have a credit bubble. We had a housing bubble, they have a housing/investment bubble. Will China eventually have to go down the same path as the U.S., and the Eurozone? … The PBoC will first cut rates to 0%, before contemplating QE.”

To this we added that “once China, that final quasi-Western nation, proceeds to engage in outright monetization of its debt, then and only then will the terminal phase of the global currency wars start: a phase which will, because global economic growth and that all important lifeblood of a globalized economy – trade – at that point will be zero if not negatve, will see an unprecedented crescendo of money printing by absolutely everyone, before coordinated devaluations mutate into uncoordinated, and when central bank actions morph from “all for one” to “each man for himself.

Swiss Gold Imports

In what future generations will likely see as a major, potentially catastrophic blunder of monetary policy, the West and particularly the City of London continues to hemorrhage huge volumes of gold which is flowing Eastwards to Singapore, India and China from London via Switzerland.

“Gold exports to China from the refining hub of Switzerland almost doubled to 46.4 metric tons in March”, up from 23.6 tonnes in February” according to Bloomberg. India’s gold imports from Switzerland doubled to 72.5 tonnes in the same period.

CNN Reporter Stutters Through CIA Script — ISIS Planning Attack On America

CNN Reporter Stutters Through CIA Script — ISIS Planning Attack On America (Activist Post, April 26, 2015):

The latest ISIS report by mainstream media is in. As has been the case since 2014’s launching of the ISIS show, CNN once again has taken the lead in being the mouthpiece of Intelligence to spread lies and deceit to the American people to set them up for a future terror event. Now we’re told ISIS is supposedly here in the United States.

The way that FBI and other Intelligence agencies know this is because they overheard some “chatter” somewhere. Everything else about the new ISIS threat revelation is a secret that you apparently do not need to know because the government agencies are “not” willing to be more specific about anything at this time. Also, someone whose identity is NOT known has asked the Intelligence agencies and the reporters like CNN’s Evan Perez to “NOT” reveal too much about this ISIS threat.

Under Pressure From Europe, Tsipras Prepares To Show Varoufakis The Door (ZeroHedge, April 27, 2015):

On Friday, Greece’s embattled FinMin Yanis Varoufakis added to his highlight reel of “kerfuffles” when he put on a performance at the negotiating table in Riga that prompted his peers to describe him as an amateurish time-wasting, gambler. As talks with creditors drag on under the constant threat of a Greek default and a disorderly euro exit, it appears Varoufakis’ antics may have finally gone too far, for as Reuters reports, PM Tsipras looks to have effectively replaced the FinMin as lead negotiator.

Here’s more:

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday reshuffled his team handling talks with European and IMF lenders, after his finance minister was sharply criticized for his performance at a euro zone meeting last week…

Tsipras and senior aides expressed support for Yanis Varoufakis and agreed the finance minister would supervise a new team negotiating a reforms deal with lenders, but appointed deputy Foreign Minister Euclid Tsakalotos as coordinator of the group, a government official said.

The appointment suggested Tsakalatos, an Oxford-educated economist and professor who is soft-spoken and well-liked by officials representing creditors, would have a more active role in face-to-face talks from now on.

And here are more details via Bloomberg:

Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is Only Just The Start Of Something MUCH Bigger (Economic Collapse, April 26, 2015):

On Saturday night, the city of Baltimore resembled a warzone as protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned wildly violent.  One eyewitness reported watching the streets around him and his friend “turn into madness” as they left a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.  Car windows were smashed, stores were robbed, chairs were thrown and large numbers of random bystanders were attacked.  One prominent Democrat claims that those committing the violence were “mainly from out of town“, but how would he know that?  Today, there are approximately 2.7 million people living in the Baltimore metropolitan area.  It is an area that has been known for poverty, crime and drugs for many years, and as racial tensions continue to increase in this country it is a powder keg that could erupt at literally any time.  We got a preview of what can happen on Saturday night.  If this is how people will act while economic conditions are still relatively stable in this country, what in the world is going to happen when things really start falling apart?

Russia Deploys Tactical Drones In The Arctic, Exposes Rarely-Seen US Spy Satellite Images

Russia Deploys Tactical Drones In The Arctic, Exposes Rarely-Seen US Spy Satellite Images (ZeroHedge, April 26, 2015):

While the USA is busy killing US civilians and terrorists with its drone program, Russia is set to deploy its own Orlan-10 drones in the oil- and gas-rich Arctic region (reportedly to monitor the climate situation). As SputnikNews reports, Colonel Aleksandr Gordeev stated “the drones’ task is to maintain impartial control of the situation in the Russian sector of the Arctic, including the ecological and ice situation in the adjoining sea areas and along the Northern Sea Route.” So, passive-agressive? However, Russia also chose this week to release rarely-seen images of a US intelligence satellite which as one analyst notes is provocative (but obscure in its intent other than the growing recognition of US space-based surveillance assets).

As Sputnik News reports, Russian drones will be deployed in the Arctic and along the Northern Sea Route starting May 1 to monitor the climate situation and the deterioration of Arctic ice, as well as to aid in navigation and search and rescue missions.

Boston Fed Admits There Is No Exit, Suggests QE Become ‘Normal Monetary Policy’

Boston Fed Admits There Is No Exit, Suggests QE Become “Normal Monetary Policy” (ZeroHedge, April 26, 2015):

Perhaps it was inevitable. After all, the term “QEfinity” entered the financial lexicon long ago and there were already quite a few commentators out there suggesting that it may now be too late to remove the punchbowl, meaning an “exit” will not only prove difficult, but may well be impossible.

Take Makoto Utsumi, who oversaw foreign-exchange policy at the Japanese Ministry of Finance from 1989-1991, for example. Utsumi recently said a BoJ QE exit was out of the question “for the foreseeable future” and went on to note that “even the thought of an exit is a nightmare.” Meanwhile, it’s virtually impossible to say what effect Fed tightening will have in both the Treasury and corporate bond markets given the lack of liquidity in both and then there’s EM where carnage unfolded in 2013 after a certain bearded bureaucrat said the wrong thing about the direction of Fed policy.

Given all of this, we’re not surprised to learn that in a new paper entitled “Let’s Talk About It: What Policy Tools Should The Fed ‘Normally’ Use?”, the Boston Fed is now suggesting that QE become a permanent tool at the disposal of the Fed. After all, “financial stability” depends on it…

Gen. Petraeus: Too Big to Jail (Consortium News, April 23, 2015):

The leniency shown former CIA Director (and retired General) David Petraeus by the Justice Department in sparing him prison time for the serious crimes that he has committed puts him in the same preferential, immune-from-incarceration category as those running the financial institutions of Wall Street, where, incidentally, Petraeus now makes millions. By contrast, “lesser” folks – and particularly the brave men and women who disclose government crimes – get to serve time, even decades, in jail.

Israeli military strikes Golan Heights to foil terror plot (RT, April 27, 2015):

The Israeli Air Force launched a strike on a militant cell, who had arrived from Syria, after they were attempting to plant a bomb in the occupied Golan Heights. Reports say that up to four people have been killed in the operation.

At around 9:30pm local time, Israeli troops saw “a group of armed terrorists” heading towards the Israeli side of the Golan Heights. The group then placed an explosive device on a border fence, which was deemed an apparent threat as it targeted the troops, according to an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) statement. Israeli aircraft were deployed and “targeted the squad, preventing the attack.”

Russian Jews face ‘grave dangers’ if Putin is ousted, warns senior rabbi (RT, April 27, 2015):

Russian Jews would be in serious danger if Russian President Vladimir Putin was ever ousted from power, a senior Russian rabbi has stated. He added, the current government guarantees the safety of Jewish people better than many Western powers do.

“The Jews of Russia must realize the dangers inherent in the possible collapse of the Putin government, understand the rules of the game and be aware of the limitations,” the head of Russian Federation of Jewish Communities Aleksandr Boroda said at an annual Jewish learning event, which was organized by Limmud FSU.

The conference, which saw around 1,400 participants attend, opened on Friday at the state-owned Klyasma resort in the Moscow region.

Disable RFID Chip In Credit Or Debit Cards (Video)

FYI.

Jun 29, 2014

Description:

UPDATED – Newer bank cards DO NOT have the divot in the plastic to easily locate the RFID chip embedded into them. You must use a high powered flashlight to “see through” the card to locate the chip. Once located, use a hole punch to break through the chip, disabling the RFID function.

The software I used on my Samsung SGS3 cellphone is called “Electronic Pickpocket RFID” and can be found in the Google Play Store for free. It will not give you all the credit card information, but enough to test if the card does or does not have a RFID chip embedded. You must have a cell phone that has NFC technology for the app to work.

Police ‘Coup’ Prevents Newly-Elected St. Louis Area Mayor From Taking Office (Counter Current News, April 24, 2015):

Mayor Betty McCray was recently elected to the office of mayor in the St. Louis County city of Kinloch. But in spite of the fact that the St. Louis County Board of Elections have certified the election results, the local police turned out by the dozen to block her from entering city hall and beginning her work as mayor.

Nearly two dozen police officers greeted McCray on her first day of work, as she tried to enter city hall.

Political opponents met her at the door and wrongly told her that she had been “impeached” before even taking the job. But that’s simply not true.

Capital Controls Arrive: Greece Begins Confiscating Deposits Of ‘Small Debtors’

Capital Controls Arrive: Greece Begins Confiscating Deposits Of “Small Debtors” (ZeroHedge, April 26, 2015):

Last week, the Greek government issued a decree which called for local governments to transfer excess cash to the central bank so that Athens would be able to pay pensions, salaries, and the IMF. The move is expected to raise as much as €2 billion to help keep the country afloat while the country’s “amateurish, time-wasting gambler” of a FinMin feebly attempts to find some kind of middle ground with his EU counterparts and as PM Tsipras pulls out all the stops including the old EU Summit sideline end-around with Merkel and the wild card energy gas pipeline advance from Gazprom (which may portend the dreaded “Russian pivot”).

If the “temporary” local government reserve sweep constitutes what we have branded “soft” capital controls, we now have the first evidence that the “hard” variety may have arrived because as Kathimerini reports, Greek debtors are having their deposits seized in lieu of payment.
