An altercation involving violence was revealed in video footage taken in Freiburg, Germany, as new immigrant arrivals were announced. In the footage, a group of anti-refugee Germans yell at a line of riot police, goading them to use violence.
Audibly distraught and desperate, one German shouts at police: “Why aren’t you shooting? Shoot us! Come on, shoot us!” They added “You’re destroying our children’s future” and similar statements, aimed at calling attention to the country’s favorable treatment of Syrian refugees.
The incident happened after the mayor of Freiburg announced the arrival of close to 400 new refugees on nine buses in mid-October.

Barb Moles, 80, fired four shots, hitting the suspect three times.
Moles was home with her husband, John, and their adult son on the night of April 28 when she said she heard a commotion. She walked into the kitchen and found John lying on the floor bleeding from a stab wound. John had also been beaten with a crowbar by the intruder.

Stealing small amounts of food to stave off hunger is not a crime, Italy’s highest court of appeal has ruled.
Judges overturned a theft conviction against Roman Ostriakov after he stole cheese and sausages worth €4.07 (£3; $4.50) from a supermarket.
Mr Ostriakov, a homeless man of Ukrainian background, had taken the food “in the face of the immediate and essential need for nourishment”, the court of cassation decided.
Therefore it was not a crime, it said.

I just want to know how you can say you’re going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs, and then come in here and tell us how you’re going to be our friend.“

Prosecutors in Virginia will not charge police officers in South Boston for their part in the death of a man who was shot with a taser 20 times in 30 minutes while handcuffed in police custody, according to a new report.
Linwood Lambert was pronounced dead about an hour after he was taken into police custody in South Boston, Virginia, on May 4, 2013, following reports of a noise disturbance at a motel. Police decided to take Lambert, who later admitted he had used cocaine, to a nearby hospital, telling him they were not taking him to jail. When Lambert became agitated and ran out of the police squad car toward the hospital, police subsequently tased him repeatedly despite his pleas for them to stop.
Lambert died after about 87 seconds, total, of tasing by the officers, who acted in violation of the South Boston Police Department’s guidelines for taser-use given Lambert was handcuffed the entire time.

Around 600 members (pictured) of various European police and military forces have carried out a European Union (EU) funded training exercise, in preparation for major civil unrest and even war.
The exercise took place in North Rhine-Westphalia on the 15th of April, and is part of the EU’s ongoing Lowlands Gendarmerie program.
So-called ‘Gendarmeries’ are a military force charged with police duties among civilian populations, and all seven European countries that maintain such “robust” units are joined together in the European Gendarmerie Force (Eurogendfor).

A Michigan appeals court has ruled that a judge acted properly when ordering children to be vaccinated despite objections by their mother on religious grounds. Her requests were disregarded after she was deemed unfit by the state.

A British graphic designer beaten unconscious in a savage attack by vicious thugs in Thailand along with his elderly parents has vowed never to return to the country.
Lewis Owen, his businessman father, also called Lewis, and mother Rosemary, both 68, were beaten up during the attack by at least six people.
The family were on holiday on the beach resort of Hua Hin when they were attacked. Mr Owen, who lives in Singapore said neither he nor his elderly parents would go back.
