Japan Orders Military To ‘State Of Alert’ As North Korea Accuses US Of Seeking ‘Preemptive Nuclear Strike’:

Just days after North Korea has accused Washington of planning a preemptive nuclear strike – following the US announcement that it would deploy its B-1 bomber in the Pacific for the first time in a decade – Japan’s increasingly militarist tone just ratcheted up to ’11’ as defense ministry officials have ordered its military to be ready at any time to shoot down any North Korean missiles that threaten to strike Japan, putting its forces on a state of alert for at least three months.

Erdogan Vows Death Penalty for 18,000 Arrested for Mutiny Citing Will of People:

Speaking before the massive crowd of people that gathered at the Istanbul’s waterfront for anti-coup rally on Sunday, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to return the death penalty that was canceled in the country over ten years ago.

The “Democracy and Martyrs’ Rally” rally was gathered at Istanbul’s Yenikapi area to demonstrate “Turkish unity” following aborted overthrow of the government that rattled the country on July 15.

During his highly emotional speech, Erdogan vowed to cleanse the country from all the supporters of Fethullah Gulen, an exiled cleric whom Turkish authorities blame the putsch attempt on.

Regensburg Siege: Recalcitrant Refugees Seize Cathedral in Germany

Regensburg Siege: Recalcitrant Refugees Seize Cathedral in Germany:

A group of Balkan vagrants seized a Catholic cathedral in the German city of Regensburg and are threatening to go on a hunger strike if their demands are not m

Early in July, a group of 50 vagrants from the former Yugoslavia arrived at a cathedral in Regensburg, asking for church asylum. Most of the large group of people, which included children and people in poor health, moved to the local priest’s house. About 14 of them, all Kosovo natives, eventually left as they don’t face deportation, but 25 remain at the priest’s lodgings.

Some of the self-described refugees were demanding the confirmation of their right to seek asylum in Germany, despite their countries of origin being recognized as ‘safe’ by German authorities. In November 2014, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina were deemed safe, and Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro were deemed ‘safe’ in October of 2015; nevertheless many, of these countries remain plagued by high unemployment.

The squatters now refuse to vacate the premises and are demanding residence and work permits.

Debt and Austerity: Greece Continues to Be Sucked Dry – and Nobody Stops the “Economic Bloodletting”

H/t reader squodgy:

“If this doesn’t wake ordinary intelligent and inquisitive people up to the corrupt monster that is the EU, then nothing will, and until we are all suffering, we will be divided and ruled for the sole benefit of the banksters.”

Debt and Austerity: Greece Continues to Be Sucked Dry – and Nobody Stops the “Economic Bloodletting”:

How long will this go on? How long will we see the photographs of a Mr. Tsipras and his Finance Minister in despair. Yet the blood-letting continues.

Already new austerity measures are being projected for 2018 – between 5.4 billion EUR asked by Europeans and 9 billion EUR requested by IMF – and the securing of the Greek debt sustainability through deep restructuring measures (meaning more selling of public assets to foreign corporations), as reported by journalist Yannis Kibouropoulos.

Yes, € 9 billion by the IMF, of all institutions! The very organization that has ostensibly pledged with Greece’s creditors to forgive some of the debt to let the country breathe. This noble idea seems to have given in to the abject, murderous greed of the banks, one among them, the Deutsche Bank, currently the most vulnerable and indebted in the world, not just in Europe, for its derivative exposure of almost € 66 trillion, or about the world’s GDP. The globe’s most criminal financial speculator is to be paid more of Greek blood to nurture its horrendous vampire thirst for more criminal acts, clubbing the weakest of this globe, sucking out the last drop of blood.

The US did not pay a $400 million “ransom” to Iran. Here’s what actually happened

The US did not pay a $400 million “ransom” to Iran. Here’s what actually happened:

This dumb controversy is everything wrong with our Iran debate.

On the morning of January 17, several wooden pallets arrived at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport. The unassuming pallets were stuffed with foreign cash — $400 million worth, to be exact. Their origin point? The United States.

That same day, four US citizens detained by Iran were released from Iranian custody.

These facts, uncovered in a recent Wall Street Journal piece, have set off a major firestorm inside the United States. Republicans and conservatives, including Paul Ryan and Donald Trump, have alleged that the payment was part of secret ransom deal the Obama administration made with Iran to free the prisoners.

Head of British child sexual abuse inquiry quits – The job nobody wants: £500,000-a-year New Zealand judge RESIGNS – the THIRD chairwoman to quit

H/t reader squodgy:

“Again, anyone delving into this subject simply MUST discover the rot goes very deep into the upper workings of the secret services and the ultimate powers that be.

That closeness to the workings can only result in the individual having a clash of principles or receiving threats. Either way, the ordinary victims will never receive or see justice. Such is democracy in UK.”

Lowell Goddard quits UK child sex abuse inquiry:

The head of a major British child sex abuse inquiry has quit, the third person to leave the post since the probe was announced two years ago.

The chairwoman, Lowell Goddard, quit without giving a reason, just over a year after taking on an unprecedented five-year inquiry into historical sexual abuse and its cover-up in Britain.

The job nobody wants: £500,000-a-year New Zealand judge RESIGNS as head of child abuse inquiry over legacy of ‘failure’ after just a year – the THIRD chairwoman to quit:

Victims today warned the major public inquiry into child abuse must continue despite the surprise resignation of its third chairwoman.

Dame Lowell Goddard shocked campaigners with her decision to quit last night, citing the ‘legacy of failure’ from the inquiry’s repeated false starts and the challenges of working so far from her native New Zealand.

Dame Lowell’s decision, which was accepted by Home Secretary Amber Rudd, came hours after criticism of her £500,000 a year pay and benefits package.

Victim representatives said while the resignation was ‘frustrating’ the work of the inquiry must continue despite concerns being raised today by former DPP Lord Macdonald the probe was becoming ‘unmanageable’.

Labour MP Keith Vaz, the chairman of the Home Affairs Committee, today said he wanted Dame Lowell to fully explain her resignation to MPs.

Head of British child sexual abuse inquiry quits:

The head of a public inquiry into decades of child sex abuse in Britain resigned on Thursday, the investigation’s third leader to quit in the last two years.

The inquiry, which will last at least five years and is expected to cost about 18 million pounds ($27 million), was set up in July 2014 after a series of child sex abuse scandals dating back to the 1970s, some involving celebrities and politicians.

On Thursday its chairwoman, New Zealand High Court Judge Lowell Goddard, quit without publicly explaining her decision.

Her appointment was seen as an attempt to give the inquiry a credible head without links to the British political establishment after her two predecessors resigned amid criticism over conflicts of interest.

“Dame Lowell Goddard wrote to me today to offer her resignation as Chair of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and I have accepted,” interior minister Amber Rudd said in a statement.

Trump Vows To “Jump Start” Economy With “Tax Revolution”; Is Interrupted At Least 14 Times

Trump Vows To “Jump Start” Economy With “Tax Revolution”; Is Interrupted At Least 14 Times:

In his first comprehensive speech laying out his vision for the US economy, Donald Trump presented a tax-slashing agenda which would seek to cut regulations, while blaming Hillary Clinton for America’s economic woes in a highly touted address Monday at the Detroit Economic Club. “Americanism, not globalism, will be our new credo,” Trump declared, saying his plan represents the “biggest tax revolution” since the Reagan era. “I want to jump-start America,” the GOP presidential nominee added  in another line that brought both applause and boos from the crowd.

Trump said his plan would include imposing a temporary moratorium on new federal regulations, reducing rates for income and corporate taxes, and establishing new provisions for working parents dealing with childcare costs.  Trump attacked Clinton for supporting trade deals that he claimed resulted in the collapse of the city’s famed automobile industry.  The Republican used his venue as the example of the administration’s failed policies saying, “Detroit is the living, breathing example of my opponent’s failed economic agenda. Every policy that has failed this city and so many others is a policy supported by Hillary Clinton.”

Chinese tourist ends up living in a German refugee home for 12 days after trying to report his lost wallet to police and being mistaken for an asylum seeker

A 31-year-old Chinese tourist was forced to spend 12 days in a refugee home after he was mistaken for an asylum seeker when he reported his lost wallet to police.

The backpacker, who didn’t speak a word of German or English, attempted to inform officers that he had misplaced his wallet in Stuttgart, south west Germany.

But he ended up at a different municipal office which then handed him an application for asylum.

The tourist, who was not identified, unwittingly signed the request and was swiftly placed in a shelter 260 miles north in Dortmund.

Deflation Is Always Good for the Economy

For most experts, deflation, which they define as a general decline in prices of goods and services, is bad news since it generates expectations for a further decline in prices.

As a result, they hold, consumers postpone their buying of goods at present since they expect to buy these goods at lower prices in the future. This weakens the overall flow of spending and in turn weakens the economy.

Hence, such commentators hold that policies that counter deflation will also counter the slump.

If deflation leads to an economic slump then policies that reverse deflation should be good for the economy.

German Jewish Leaders Slam Court For Acquitting Holocaust Denier

FYI.

Germany’s top Jewish leader has criticized a court in the central German city of Naumburg for letting a far-right politician off easy after his conviction for Holocaust denial.

The state Supreme Court decision to acquit extreme right-wing politician Hans Püschel by annulling the fine levied by a lower court is viewed by some as an unprecedented challenge to German law, which requires punishment for trivialization of the Holocaust and glorification of Nazi crimes. The decision was announced locally in October 2015, but became public on Wednesday after inquiries by the German daily newspaper Die Welt.

If the Fact Neocons Are Now Supporting Hillary Clinton Confuses You, Read This:

What’s a Neocon to do?

Bill Kristol is downright despondent after his failed search for an alternative to Donald Trump. Max Boot is indignant about his “stupid” party’s willingness to ride a bragging bull into a delicate China policy shop. And the leading light of the first family of military interventionism — Robert Kagan — is actually lining up Neoconservatives behind the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.

At the same time, the Democrats have become the party of bare-knuckled, full-throated American Exceptionalism. That transformation was announced with a vein-popping zeal by retired general and wannabe motivation screamer John Allen at the Democratic convention in the City of Brotherly Love. During his “speech,” a few plaintive protests of “no more war” were actually drowned-out by Democrats chanting “USA-USA-USA!”

Politicians Admit Migrants To Cost Germany More Than 30 Billion Euros A Year

Politicians Admit Migrants To Cost Germany More Than 30 Billion Euros A Year:

Politicians have admitted that Germany’s recent migrant influx is set to cost taxpayers at least €30 billion a year. In addition to forking out for the day-to-day living costs and of more migrants, the German government will sharply increase spending on its police and security services after an unprecedented influx of migrants entered the country.

A German newspaper has quizzed various departments on how much taxpayers’ money they expect to spend on the excess of a million migrants who arrived in the country last year.

Integration will be the government’s biggest outlay, accounting for two thirds of the total €30 billion figure. Teachers, day care centres, schools, language courses, and housing all come under this umbrella.

Pro Mass Migration Labour MP Inadvertently Admits ‘Refugees’ Are a Sex Assault Risk:

A senior Labour MP has called for male migrants coming from Syria to the UK to receive formal lessons to prevent against sexual assault. She added that British men also need the classes, which would “provide information on how they should interact with women”.

Thangam Debbonaire said the classes could help tackle “issues like female genital mutilation” and prevent sexual harassment against women. Claiming “our indigenous population is not a haven of gender equality”, she said all men in Britain should attend such classes.

Pamela Geller: Slate Puts Mother of 5-Year-Old Rape Victim on Trial

Pamela Geller: Slate Puts Mother of 5-Year-Old Rape Victim on Trial:

Slate magazine on Sunday published “If You Want to Live Here, You Need to Live by the Rules Here,” a 5,000-plus word exposition of the Muslim migrant rape case in Twin Falls, Idaho. Author Michelle Goldberg subtitles her piece: “A sexual assault case involving refugee children in Idaho. A microcosm of America in the age of Trump.” That tells you all you need to know: Goldberg and Slate are using this case to demonize opposition to the Democrats’ suicidal policies regarding Muslim migrants.

Goldberg doesn’t care about the five-year-old rape victim in Twin Falls in the slightest degree. In fact, throughout her lengthy piece and in texts with the victim’s mother, she puts this little girl and her family on trial.

Goldberg’s agenda is further exposed by the fact that throughout her wordy article, she doesn’t deign to include a full description of the attack itself. The closest Golberg comes to this is her account of the victim’s mother’s brief description of the video that the attackers took while they were raping the girl: “Her fiancé, she said, told her it showed oral sex as well as their daughter being urinated on.” But Goldberg follows this with prosecuting attorney Grant Loebs waxing “indignant at all the misrepresentations still swirling around about the case. ‘I’m a lifelong conservative Republican, and the behavior of the right-wing alternative press on this is atrocious.’” Loebs’ own dishonesty I have shown in a previous article.

Migrant Teens Walk Free In Sweden Ferry Rape Case

Migrant Teens Walk Free In Sweden Ferry Rape Case:

Four teenage migrants walked free from a Swedish court after a judge ruled that the victim was “not drunk enough” for the encounter to be classified as rape.

The four migrant teens were accused of raping a young Swedish woman during a “Fun Cruises” student party ferry ride from Sweden to Finland in May of this year that was advertised by the organizers as “a crazy action packed day at sea.” The judge in the case ruled last month that there was little evidence to prove that the sexual encounter between the four young men and the young Swedish woman was not consensual. The four are now walking free from the court after the prosecutor in the case has decided not to appeal the judge’s ruling The Local reports.
