Socialized medicine FAIL: UK losing 400 doctors PER MONTH as system collapses amid chronic funding shortages

FYI.

Socialized medicine FAIL: UK losing 400 doctors PER MONTH as system collapses amid chronic funding shortages:

Most Left-wing American political figures, entertainers and academics speak highly of the United Kingdom’s socialized medicine system, saying that the U.S. ought to emulate it. But they don’t live there so they don’t really know just how bad it is, and how close it is getting to collapse.

In fact, the National Health Service is so chronically under-funded — socialized medical systems require massive infusions of tax money — that scores of senior physicians may begin refusing to take on new patients unless the government commits more financial resources, the UK’s Daily Mail is reporting.

The fact is, they really have few other choices.

Is the food industry bankrupting our NHS?

H/t reader squodgy:

“UK Government is now as corrupt and in the pockets of GlobalCorps as the American Government, who set the standard.”

Is the food industry bankrupting our NHS?:

In a BBC’s Inside Out diabetes (type 2) special, the programme highlighted that 4.5 million people in the UK are living with the disease, and this figure is likely to rise by 263,000 by 2035. Nick Hex, a health economist, says treating the disease currently costs the health service £10 billion a year, or 10% of the NHS budget, which is estimated to spiral to 17%. This might be enough to bankrupt the NHS. Professor Anthony Barnett from the University of Birmingham has accused the food industry of not taking the problem of sugar consumption and type 2 diabetes seriously and has urged Government to legislate to halt the rise in the chronic disease to stop it busting our health service.

Prof. Patrick Pullicino: The NHS Kills Off 130,000 Elderly Patients Every Year

Top doctor’s chilling claim: The NHS kills off 130,000 elderly patients every year (Daily Mail, June 19, 2012):

  • Professor says doctors use ‘death pathway’ to euthenasia of the elderly
  • Treatment on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours
  • Around 29 per cent of patients that die in hospital are on controversial ‘care pathway’
  • Pensioner admitted to hospital given treatment by doctor on weekend shift

NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday.Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly.

He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country.

More than 50,000 jobs are disappearing from the NHS, according to freedom of information responses, which reveal for the first time the extent of cuts by local health trusts struggling to save £20bn from their budgets.

The survey, by the union-funded website False Economy, represents the most up-to-date picture of the effects of efficiency savings in the NHS and reveals that in England alone, 24,000 posts will be lost in hospitals, another 10,000 will go in primary care trusts and 6,000 will disappear from mental health trusts.

They include doctors, nurses and dentists as well as administrative positions, undermining government pledges to protect frontline services.
