Organizers of Sweden’s popular Bråvalla annual music festival have made the decision to cancel the 2018 event following the rape epidemic and reports of Sexual Assault that marred the festival recently.
Swedish Police have confirmed they are investigating 22 counts of molestation and four potential rapes that were reported at the music festival near the Swedish town of Norrkoping.

Unable to settle lawsuits for victims of pedophile priests

A Montana Roman Catholic diocese has filed for bankruptcy following a court ruling finding the church guilty in over 400 cases of child sex abuse.
Church officials confirmed that the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings is unable to settle the lawsuits that have been so far been filed by 72 of the victims of pedophilia at the hands of Catholic priests.

This is the second diocese in Montana to file for bankruptcy over child abuse lawsuits in less than three years, with the total number of cases of sex abuse by priests, nuns and church volunteers reaching a staggering 760 victims since 2014 in Montana alone, with payouts from lawsuits in the tens of millions.

The Vatican’s finance chief, Australia’s highest ranking Roman Catholic and one of Pope Francis’ most senior advisors, Cardinal George Pell, has been charged with multiple sex offenses by Australian police in the latest blow to the Vatican’s attempts to put decades of child sex abuse scandals behind it.

“Cardinal Pell is facing multiple charges in respect of historic sexual offenses,” Victoria state police deputy commissioner Shane Patton said, following a police investigation that followed the same processes and procedures applied in other sex abuse cases. Cardinal Pell has been summoned to appear in court in Melbourne on July 18 to face the charges, which relate to complaints made by more than one person, according to the FT. To attend the hearing the 76-year-old would have to return to Australia from Rome, where he has been tasked by the Pope with cleaning up the Vatican’s finances.

On 27 August 2016 Laura G., a 28-year-old Hungarian living in Mühlhausen, Germany was violently gang-raped by three Eritreans. On her way home, she was grabbed by 23-year-old Isaac N. and told:”we’re going to have sex now.” Laura refused, but Isaac hit her in the face, knocking her to the ground. Nevertheless, she managed to get away from him, only to be intercepted by 29-year-old Medhanie A. and 22-year-old Dawit T.

The men dragged Laura under the viaduct, where all three took turns raping her. During her ordeal, Laura’s mouth was kept shut by the attackers “to prevent her from screaming”, as the prosecutor stated in court at the time. He further described the gang rape as ‘brutal’.

On Monday, 19 June 2017 Laura’s ordeal had finally made it to the courtroom for the trial and it was her turn to give a statement. Laura identified all three of the accused as the men who raped her, saying:

  • Germany’s migrant sex-crime problem is being exacerbated by its lenient legal system, in which offenders receive relatively light sentences, even for serious crimes. In many instances, individuals who are arrested for sex crimes are released after questioning from police. This practice allows criminal suspects to continue committing crimes with virtual impunity.
  • In Berlin, a court acquitted a 23-year-old Turkish man of rape because his victim could not prove that she did not give her consent. The court heard how the man shoved the woman’s head between the steel bars of the headboard of a bed and repeatedly violated her over a period of more than four hours. The woman cried “stop” and resisted by scratching the accused on the back, but at some point she stopped resisting. The court asked: “Could it be that the defendant thought you were in agreement?”

Two German police officers have been removed from their posts after they failed properly to provide emergency assistance to a woman who was raped by a migrant in Bonn.

The lack of attention by the police has added to the perception that German authorities are not taking seriously a rape crisis in which thousands of German women and children have been sexually assaulted since Chancellor Angela Merkel allowed in around two million migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

These are just some of the items in the standard sexual assault evidence collection kit, or rape kit, used by American hospitals and police departments. Sexual assault turns the victim’s body into a crime scene and the process of evidence gathering—prodding, swabbing and questioning—can take hours. Victims who subject themselves to this ordeal do so in the hope of justice and the hope that the perpetrator will be stopped from hurting anyone else. But over the last 30 years as many as 400,000 rape kits have piled up, untested, in back rooms and storage lockers across the country. Stacked together they would fill a warehouse the size of a football field and three stories tall.

Die Staatsanwältin spricht von einer „Überfalltat in der Öffentlichkeit“. Die Vorsitzende Richterin hingegen nennt die Tat „schändlich, aber keinen Überfall“, da Opfer und Täter zuvor gemeinsam getrunken hätten.

The priest, Jose Garcia Ataulfo, was cleared of any wrong-doing and won’t face any criminal charges, despite the fact that he knew he was infected with HIV when he sexually abused all the children he admitted to raping.
The mother of one of the priest’s victims wrote a letter to The Pope asking to meet with him in Rome to discuss the case, but was shunned by the Vatican who declared that “the matter is closed”.

Independent Swedish journalist Joakim Lamotte has claimed sexual abuse from newly arrived migrants is not only prevalent in schools but that victims are accused of being racist if they speak out.

Mr. Lamotte, who formerly worked as a journalist at Sweden’s state broadcaster SVT, has posted a video on his Facebook page describing a wave of sexual assaults committed by “newcomer” asylum seekers. He said when students or teachers attempt to talk about the problem they are called racists and nothing is done.
