Two young women were dragged into the basement of a Vienna building on Saturday as a 16 year old Libyan they met on public transport tried to rape them. As he tried to pull the girls into the underground room by grabbing their arms, the 20 year old escaped, and was able to call police.
Her 18 year old girlfriend was less lucky and was pulled down, where she was pressed to the ground and molested. She managed to prevent the rape by fighting back but was injured in the process, reports Kronen Zeitung. Police arrived and arrested the man responsible, who has been described as a Libyan “asylum seeker”.

The Baltic Dry Index has risen for the last few weeks, buoyed by hopes (a la Iron Ore) of a National People’s Congress stimulus surge from China. While the scale of the ‘bounce’ is negligible in real terms compared to the total collapse, it has caused such momentum-muppets as Jim Cramer to proclaim China ‘fixed’ and investible. So we have one quick question – if everything is awesome, why did the China Containerized Freight Index just crash to new record lows?

Istanbul, Turkey (TFC) – Recent days have seen the death of Turkish journalism at the hands of the country’s leadership. Government forces, after essentially hijacking a leading outlet with riot police, bent it into a pro-government mouthpiece. This marks but the latest in a long line of attacks on press freedom and adversarial coverage by Turk officials.
Journalists at the Daily Zaman woke up to Orwell after Turkish riot police stormed their headquarters. The seizure, USA Today reports, came at the request of Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s office, which filed terror charges against the outlet. Officially, the Turkish government accused the paper of planning a coup alongside a political rival. Riot police dowsed protesters in tear gas and water cannon fire later on, making way for the main event.
