Donation & The Many Benefits Of Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum), The Chinese Herb Of Immortality

Jiaogulan
This is for those who missed my post on Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) The Chinese Herb Of Immortality. Personally, I would say that this herb is a must-have. It is an adaptogen and was found to have 82 saponins (the chemical source of adaptogenesis) compared to 28 found in standard ginseng. It is said to be better than ginseng and can be easily cultivated. “Jiaogulan may actually be the most powerful adaptogen out there”. An adaptogen is a substance with an ability to restore the natural condition or the balance of the body functions, which explains why Jiaogulan is so effective and has such a wide range of applications: Anti-tumor & anti-cancer; Antioxidant (Increases superoxide dismutase (SOD) production by 282% on average!); Hypotension AND Hypertension (studies have shown that Jiaogulan is 82% effective in lowering blood pressure.);  Diabetes; Fights fluoride toxicity; Improves fitness and endurance; Improves cardio function; Improves the immune system; Promotes longevity; Protects against radiation. For how to cultivate Jiaogulan see my comment to John at the article above. If you place some of the fast growing shoots in a water bottle, they will grow roots very quickly. I have added many very interesting scientific studies down below, which are not mentioned in the article above.

Donations & The Many Benefits Of Chickweed (Stellaria Media)

chickweed
Chickweed (Stellaria Media), another arch enemy of many gardeners, is high in copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, silicon and zinc. It also contains calcium, chlorophyll, phosphorus, potassium, protein, Vitamin A and fat. And it is a good source of Vitamin C, riboflavin, niacin, thiamine and plant sodium. Many cultures enjoy the leaves and stems as a common food. It can be eaten as a salad vegetable or cooked and eaten like cabbage. Chickweed can be made use of as a detoxification agent and a blood and lymph purifying herb. Chickweed has been used historically for cancers, tumors, abscesses, cysts, hemorrhoids, bleeding of bowels or lungs, abraded nasal passages, peritonitis, appendicitis, St. Anthony’s Fire, conjunctivitis, gastrointestinal weakness, asthma, bronchitis, consumption, pleurisy and for liver issues including hepatic torpor and hepatitis. A scientific study shows Chickweed has diverse antiviral activity, including potential for anti-hepatitis B activity (Ma, et.al.) and another study concluded that Chickweed has hepatoprotective (liver protective) activity. (Gorina, et.al.). I’m juicing it (in smaller quantities) with my regular juices.

Donation & The Many Benefits Of The Birch Tree (Betula Alba) – How To Tap A Birch Tree

birch-trees
Birch (Betula alba). For those who missed … How To Tap A Birch Tree – Birch Sap – Birkensaft Zapfen (Videos). A birch tree of 50 cm trunk diameter in breast height can deliver up to 10 liters per day. However, the branch method is less invasive for the birch tree. Regular intake of birch sap has shown to reduce pollen allergies. The birch is a blood purifier. The Native Americans used bark tea as a herbal remedy to relieve pain as it contains methyl salicylate, a natural aspirin. Studies have shown that the bark of Betula alba negatively affects cancerous skin cells. Birch leaves (commonly used as tea) for: Spring cleanse, kidney stones, urinary gravel, cystitis, gout, arthritis, rheumatism, psoriasis, eczema, edema, … . A study was done with patients who had infected wounds ranging from shallow to very deep cuts. Each patient was treated with the tincture of Birch buds. Very good results were obtained after using the tincture on all of the patients including ones with anti-biotic resistant infections. Birch has historically been used to expel worms. A tea of the twigs and bark aids in ridding the mouth of canker sores. In research, “Betulin -based treatment was several times more effective than the current most popular herpes treatment.” Betulinic acid has been noted as a “highly selective inhibitor of human melanoma growth and was reported to induce apoptosis in these cells.” In some studies on mice that were carrying human abnormal skin growths and were treated with betulinic acid, the growths were “completely inhibited without toxicity.”

Donation & The Many Benefits Of Ground Elder (Aegopodium Podagraria)

ground elder, herb gerard, bishop's weed, goutweed, gout wort, English masterwort, wild masterwort aegopodium podagraria
Ground elder (Aegopodium podagraria). A lot of gardeners hate it, but ground elder, herb gerard, bishop’s weed, goutweed, gout wort, English masterwort, wild masterwort is another wild vegetable you can use to support your health. Ground elder (Aegopodium podagraria) was introduced by the Romans, to supply their soldiers with fresh vegetables along the roadside. Of course they used a plant that knows how to survive in all circumstances, one that cannot be conquered. Ground elder is used to treat gout, rheumatism and arthritis and as a spring detox & blood-purifier. The nutrient content of Goutweed is much higher than that of kale. I’m juicing it with my regular vegetable juices.

Donation & The Many Benefits Of The Stinging Nettle (Urtica Dioica)

Stinging-Nettle-Urtica-Dioica
The stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is maybe the best herb for supporting the formation of blood. Nettles are also one of the best blood-purifiers, which is why they are part of my spring detox, just like dandelion  (Taraxacum officinale) and ramson (Allium ursinum). I use the freshly picked nettles in my regular juices and my smoothies. In a plastic bag they stay fresh in the refrigerator for a few days, but they will lose some nutrient content and vital energy. Still way better than most, if not all, ‘food’ that you can buy in the supermarket. Stinging nettles are unmatched energy & nutrient bombs. And even kale looks like a weakling in comparison. Donation & The Many Benefits Of Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale)

dandelion
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is part of my spring detox. It is improving liver and gallbladder function and is improving digestion in general. It is high in boron and the pedicles are very high in lecithin, which does shrink and remove gallstones and is good for brain function. I am juicing dandelion leaves and up to 15 dandelion pedicles with my regular juices. You can also use dandelion leaves in your salads and smoothies. The pedicles are known to reduce high blood sugar in diabetes patients. (More info down below.)
