Make that 9000 victims and you are not even close.
Jimmy Savile is only the tip of the iceberg.
How come nobody wants to investigate or even talk about the rest of it? (Rhetorical question)
Scotland Yard is investigating complaints from 1958 to 2006
– Shocking scale: Jimmy Savile may have abused up to 900 victims (Mirror, Nov 4, 2012):
Serial paedophile Jimmy Savile might have abused as many as 900 victims.
It is feared the most recent figure of 300 could treble as more people come forward.
Scotland Yard is investigating complaints from 1958 to 2006.
The true scale of Savile’s abuse at BBC premises, hospitals and schools is likely to take several months to uncover.
A source close to the ITV1 programme which exposed Savile said: “It will take a long time before we know exactly how many young people Savile abused but we fear we are looking at between 800 and 900.
“People are coming forward every day and the situation is complicated further because of the timescale involved.
“We have opened a can of worms on a scale which we could have never imagined.
“Never before has a predatory paedophile been given so much access to children, many of them vulnerable, over such a long period of time.”
Lawyers acting for Savile’s alleged victims say up to 350 could sue.
Solicitors are dealing with 50 allegations that could turn into massive claims against the BBC.
Schools, the Savile estate, Broadmoor hospital, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary are also facing claims.
ITV hopes to run the next part of its investigation on November 21.
Eighties star could be questioned within days over rape claim
A dancer who claims a major TV star tried to rape her has given a full statement to detectives.
Police are now expected to quiz the man, a household name, within days over Paula Hopwood’s claims he attacked her during a tour in the Eighties.
Merseyside Police confirmed it had launched an investigation after Paula, now 48, revealed details of the alleged sex attack in the Sunday Mirror.
Officers recorded her statement on video on Friday.
They are understood to be in contact with another force over questioning the star.
A source close to the case said: “Police say they are just waiting for the right paperwork to be exchanged between the forces before they bring him in.”
Paula claims the man, who we are not naming, tried to rape her after climbing into her bed but fled when she fought him off. Later he laughed as he exposed himself.
Paula said: “He believed he was almighty, untouchable. But I’ve had to live with what he did and I always will.”
The case could be handed over to Operation Yewtree, Scotland Yard’s probe into sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile and others.
Gary Glitter, 68, and comedian Freddie Starr, 69, have both been quizzed on suspicion of sex offences, which they deny, and released on bail.
