- Ekaterina Stetsyuk told friends a man tried to rape and kill her in a Dubai hotel
- She needed surgery after suffering serious back injuries following her jump
- The 22-year-old model’s alleged attacker is 39-year-old Pakistani businessman
- But he is said to have claimed that he was defending himself after she attacked
A Russian model has been thrown in a Dubai detention prison despite giving harrowing new details of her claim that she was fought off ‘a knife-wielding rapist’ – saying she jumped ‘naked’ six floors to save her life.
Supporters of Ekaterina Stetsyuk, 22, who suffered serious back injuries requiring surgery, say she has been locked up because the man made a counter claim that she attacked him.
After two operations on her back, the woman has been moved to a detention centre, say her family.
Her alleged attacker – who she says was a 39-year-old Pakistani businessman not American as earlier reported – had invited her to discuss a future cosmetics business deal, say her family.
Stetsyuk claimed that he drank wine ‘and became violent’, threatening her with a knife, and demanding that she undress.
‘She was scared and obeyed’, said one report.
Her mother Inga said: ‘He grabbed a large knife from a coffee table, and held her neck.
‘He held her neck, pushed her against the wall, and began to wave the knife next to her head, threatening her.’
She managed to grab the knife but he ‘jumped on her and pulled her hair, then pushed her down on the floor,’ reported Life news website in Moscow.
She clung onto the knife and wounded him, giving her time to run to the balcony and jumped ‘in fear of her life’.
Her unnamed attacker then fled to the airport where he was detained.
He told Dubai police that she had attacked him – and that in the process of defending himself, he accidentally pushed her out of a window.
The model had two operations and it was reported earlier this week she could not move.
Now, she has been deemed well enough to be transferred to a cell.
Contrary to earlier reports, she did not break her spine but suffered serious injuries in the fall from what has been reported as a hotel or residential building.
Ivan Gubanov, Russian vice-consul, said she ‘expected the worst’ and was in an ’emotional state’.
He refused to say the reasons she originally came to Dubai, amid reports she had a month-long contract to work as an escort.
She was due to be paid £5,000, the Russian media has reported.
‘It is better to show compassion. This is about a young girl, our compatriot, who really fell from the 6th floor, miraculously survived, having injured her spine and internal organs.’
Her mother who is travelling to Dubai complained that in jail, the model – from Irkutsk in Siberia – had been deprived of her mobile phone and had been ‘isolated’.
The vice-consul said that she will be required to remain in Dubai for the duration of the investigation.
It is believed she may face prosecution for being alone with a man.
Her friend Irina Grossman said ‘She survived by a miracle.’
Her spinal cord was ‘intact’ and ‘several vertebras were crushed’
