Judge John Mercer Walker, Jr now seated on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York City killed a police officer.
Officer Daniel Picagli, who was directing traffic at a road construction site for AT&T in New Haven, Connecticut was struck and killed by Judge Walker who was driving home in a Ford Escape.
New Haven police said the cause was not related to drugs or alcohol but admit they did not test the Judge to see if he was sauced on the way home from work! As the New York Times reported earlier this year, Alcoholism is a growing problem in the legal profession.
The prosecutor declined to press charges. This decision allegedly did not sit well with others involved in the investigation and now, new eyes are allegedly looking into “other aspects” of the incident.
For now, Judge Walker – a cousin of former President George Walker Bush – remains on the bench dispensing justice upon others not so fortunate to be a federal judge.
