Ukraine Warns Moscow Against Russian Military Movements In Crimea

Ukraine warns Moscow against Russian military movements in Crimea (Reuters, Feb 27, 2014):

Ukraine said on Thursday it would regard any movements by Russian military in Crimea outside the Russian Black Sea fleet’s base in Sevastopol as an act of aggression.

Acting President Oleksander Turchinov issued the warning in the national parliament after armed men seized the regional government and parliament buildings in Crimea, where some ethnic Russians want the region to join the Russian Federation.

Turchinov, who is also the head of Ukraine’s armed forces, appealed for Moscow to adhere to the rules of an agreement which allows Russia’s Black Sea fleet to be based in Sevastopol until 2042.

“I am appealing to the military leadership of the Russian Black Sea fleet … Any military movements, the more so if they are with weapons, beyond the boundaries of this territory (the base) will be seen by us as military aggression,” he declared.

The identities of the men in the buildings in the regional capital of Simferopol were not immediately known and they issued no demands.

But witnesses said they raised the Russian flag – an act which appeared to suggest they were ethnic Russian separatists, which will add to growing alarm among Ukraine’s new leaders of secessionist tendencies on the peninsula.

“Criminals in military fatigues with automatic weapons have seized the buildings,” Turchinov told parliament, which had been called into session to name a new government following the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovich last Saturday.

Appealing for calm, he said he had given orders to all the security structures of Ukraine to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens.

  1. What is an acting president? Was he elected, or put in place as a puppet for the west? What do the majority of the Ukraine public think of him? He speaks like a puppet.

Russia needs the Ukraine to rebuild to its former great power. Putin is the man to do it, he has all the qualities of a great leader historically speaking. He has the qualities of leadership that Russia has always seemed to embrace, ruthless, single minded and focused. If one looks at the history of Russia, the winner will be Putin.

The reason is simple, many Russians want a return to national greatness they had under the USSR, to be a world power. Since the USSR fell apart, millions of well educated people have found themselves floundering unable to get a job that matches their background and education……very much like what is happening to people here in the west………they want a return to the days of prosperity.

They have suffered greatly since their fall from foremost world power, their nationalism is still strong, they want a return to greatness.
Putin knows this because he keeps his fingers on the pulse on the people. He will do what is necessary to consolidate and build his own power upon the needs of the people.

Here in the US, the leaders don’t know or care what the people want……and the country is in rapid decline as a result. A smart leader gives the people the illusion they are giving them what they want……ignoring us as these clowns are doing is a recipe for disaster.

The Ukraine will be part of Russia once again. Their mutual history cannot be ignored.
