Former presidential candidate and congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party two years ago, announced Tuesday that she’s joining the Republican Party because of her love for America and former President Donald Trump’s leadership.

Gabbard made the surprise announcement during a speech at Trump’s rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“It is because of my love for our country, and specifically because of the leadership that President Trump has brought to transform the Republican Party and bring it back to the party of the people and the party of peace, that I’m proud to stand here with you today, President Trump, and announce that I’m joining the Republican Party,” Gabbard said.

Moments prior to revealing her decision, Gabbard explained her reasoning.

She said that the Republican Party was welcoming to “independent-minded people” who are committed to the U.S. Constitution and to freedom, such as herself.

“I am joining the party of the people, the party of equality, the party that was founded to fight against and end slavery in this country. It is the party of common sense and the party that is led by a president who has the courage and strength to fight for peace,” said Gabbard, who serves in the U.S. Army Reserves.

She noted that Trump has “pledged to end wars, not start them.”

Gabbard served as a member of Congress from 2013 through 2021, representing Hawaii’s second district as a Democrat.

A state Turkish aerospace and defense company in Ankara has come under apparent attack on Wednesday, with a large explosion followed by gunfire heard at a complex in the country’s capital.

The site has been identified as the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) facility in Kazan district. Turkish broadcasters have said the attack may have started with a suicide bomber.

Security forces quickly engaged one or more other attackers at the scene, and a gun battle ensued.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya in an initial statement has assessed that their are dead and wounded at the scene, amid a heavy emergency response.

“A terrorist attack was carried out against the Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) Ankara Kahramankazan facilities,” he said in a statement.

“We have martyrs and injured people,” he said. A chaotic emergency response situation is unfolding.

Turkey’s Daily Sabah writes:

Unconfirmed reports said it may have been a suicide bomber.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the blast heard outside the premises was a terrorist attack but did not specify and said further statements would follow.

Security forces, ambulances and firefighters were dispatched to the TAI campus, which employs over 15,000 people.

I have previously written about the European Union’s (EU) effort to use its infamous Digital Services Act (DSA) to force companies like X to censor Americans, including on postings related to our presidential election. This is a direct assault on our free speech values, and yet the Biden-Harris Administration has not raised a peep of objection. Now, the EU is threatening to set these confiscatory fines with reference to revenue from companies other than X, including Space X.

The EU has warned Musk that it is allowed to hit online platforms with fines of as much as 6% of their yearly global revenue for refusing to censor content, including “disinformation.” The inclusion of companies like Space X is ridiculous but perfectly consistent with the effort of the EU to use the DSA to regulate speech in the United States and around the world.

The EU is arguing that as a “provider” Musk’s entire business portfolio can be included in the fine calculation.

It is ridiculous and chilling. Musk’s other companies have nothing to do with the platform policies of X. It is simply an unhinged coercive measure designed to break Musk.

With these eight words, issued on the “Markets with Madison” podcast, Microstrategy CEO Michael Saylor evoked outrage from just about everyone in Bitcoin.

Shinobi called him a “spook.” Carvalho was confused. Svetski claimed this will start the next Fork Wars.

Put simply, Saylor said a bad thing. He broke the taboo.

He said you’re better off trusting your Bitcoin in state custody than holding your own private keys, then went further, calling out all of the businesses engaged in custody projects by calling them effectively bullshit salesmen.

It was, shall we say, a “big oof,” a “footgun,” the scene in the cartoon where the hero gets hit with an anvil.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin arrived in Ukraine’s capital by train on an unannounced visit Monday, at a moment Ukraine’s forces are getting steadily pushed back in the east, and as President Zelensky expresses frustration at the lack of large-scale new military aid.

“It’s been absolutely remarkable that Ukraine has been able to do what it’s done,” Austin told reporters as he went into Ukraine Sunday night. “It’s been able to do that, of course, because of the fact that we have supported them from the very beginning, and we’ve rallied some 50 countries to be a part of that support.”

In Kiev, Austin announced $400 million in new arms for Ukraine but did not acquiesce to the Ukrainians’ main ask – the greenlight to strike Russia with US-supplied weapons.

“We homeschool our kids,” 41-year-old Glade, from Nebraska, told The Epoch Times. “None of our kids have a phone or any electric devices. None of our kids play video games. [Instead] our kids love to read and love to use their imagination.”
