Delingpole: Aussie ex-PM Abbott Slams Climate Change ‘Religion’:

Climate change is a religion whose followers behave like members of the Inquisition; it’s a condition where the cure is causing far more damage than the alleged disease; it’s a recipe for killing jobs, lowering standards of living and hurting the poor…

Some of us knew this already. But you rarely hear it so trenchantly expressed by a former world leader – as it was in London yesterday by Aussie ex-Prime Minister Tony Abbott in a hard-hitting, must-read speech for the Global Warming Policy Foundation.

AND NOW: Australia To Start Taxing Bank Deposits

Australia To Start Taxing Bank Deposits (ZeroHedge, March 29, 2015):

Up until now, the world’s descent into the NIRPy twilight of fiat currency was a function of failing monetary policy around the globe as central bank after desperate central bank implemented negative and even more negative (in the case of Denmark some four times rapid succession) rates, hoping to make saving so prohibitive consumers would have no choice but to spend the fruits of their labor, or better yet, take out massive loans which they would never be able to repay. However, nobody said it was only central banks who could be the executioners of the world’s saver class: governments are perfectly capable too.  Such as Australia’s.

According to Australia’s ABC News, the “Federal Government looks set to introduce a tax on bank deposits in the May budget.”

‘No harsh phrasing’: No ‘shirtfront’ from Australia PM on Putin at APEC encounter (RT, Nov 11, 2014):

The Russian and Australian leaders have discussed the crash of Malaysian Airlines MH17 on the sidelines of the APEC summit in China. Despite a previous promise to act tough, PM Abbott has abstained from physical force against President Putin.

“The leaders have quite resolutely called for a genuine investigation of the causes of the catastrophe [of the MH17 flight], Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine, claiming lives of everyone on board, 298 passengers and crew, among them 38 Australian residents. Abbott has stated on more than one occasion that in his opinion that Malaysian Boeing was shot down by pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region.

‘Our President is a pro judo wrestler’: Russian diplomat slams Aussi PM intention ‘to shirtfront’ Putin (RT, Oct, 14, 2014):

A Russian diplomat in Australia called the remark of Australian PM Tony Abbott about his intention to “shirtfront” Vladimir Putin “immature.” He reminded the Aussie politician that he might be “very fit” but Putin is “a professional judo wrestler.”

Abbot’s scandalous remark came on Monday after he told journalists that he is going to “shirtfront” the Russian president on the sidelines of G20 summit over the tragedy of the Malaysian airliner crash in the Donetsk Region of Ukraine in July.

“I am going to shirtfront Mr Putin – you bet I am – I am going to be saying to Mr Putin Australians were murdered, they were murdered by Russian backed rebels,” Abbott said.

Australia has announced plans for a fleet of giant high-tech unmanned drones to help patrol the nation’s borders, monitoring energy infrastructure and attempts to enter the country illegally.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the Triton Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, which can remain airborne for 33 hours, would be based in the southern city of Adelaide.

A report in February said seven of the US-made drones would be purchased for Aus$3 billion, but Abbott said the details of how many and when had yet to be finalised.
