Gang rapes, castrations and a 12-year-old boy forced to have sex with his grandmother: UN report reveals horrific abuses by South Sudanese government soldiers and rebels amid civil war:

A UN report has revealed the horrific human rights abuses committed in South Sudan’s five-year civil war – including the story a woman who says her 12-year-old son was forced to have sex with his grandmother to stay alive.

The latest report was released on Friday by a United Nations commission in the hopes of one day finding justice.

It includes a horrific day in Pagak town when one South Sudanese man returned home after hiding from government soldiers to find they had blinded his mother, gouging out her eyes with spears.

She had tried to defend her 17-year-old daughter from being raped by more than a dozen soldiers and didn’t succeed. Seventeen soldiers then raped her. The family’s father was beheaded.

The Global Famine Begins: UN Announces That The Worst Food Crisis Since World War II Is Happening Right Now

The Global Famine Begins: UN Announces That The Worst Food Crisis Since World War II Is Happening Right Now:

We always knew that this would start happening.  Earlier this month, I wrote about the severe economic problems that are plaguing South America, but up to this point I have neglected to discuss the horrific famines that are breaking out all over Africa.  Right now there is a desperate need for food in South Sudan, Somalia, northeast Nigeria, Eritrea and Kenya.  And Yemen, even though it is not technically part of Africa, is being affected by many of the same factors that are crippling nations all over eastern Africa.  The United Nations says that more than 20 million people could die from starvation and disease if nothing is done.  When I write about economic collapse, this is the kind of thing that I am talking about, and we are starting to see alarming conditions spread across the globe.  Many believe that we could never possibly face this kind of food crisis in the western world, but unfortunately wishful thinking will only get you so far.

White Hawk Down – UN Helicopter Shot Down In South Sudan

White Hawk Down – UN Helicopter Shot Down In South Sudan (ZeroHedge, Aug 26, 2014):

Time for some more ‘humanitarian’ airtsrike non-boots-on-the-ground ‘advisors’… As AP reports, The U.N. mission in South Sudan says one of its helicopters has crashed, and a U.N. official told The Associated Press that it appears the aircraft was shot down. While not quite Mogadishu (yet), the UN is “deeply concerned” about the crew as the widespread and massive violence between rebels and the national army in South Sudan that has raged since December continues to rage.
