- Katsutaka Idogawa, former mayor of Futaba in Fukushima Prefecture: There are still about 2 million people living in the prefecture, who have all sorts of medical issues. The authorities claim this has nothing to do with the radiation fallout from Fukushima. I demanded that the authorities substantiate their claim in writing, but they ignored my request. There are some terrible things going on in Fukushima. […] The biggest problem is that there is no one to help us. […] I talked to local authorities in different places in Fukushima, but no one would listen to me. They believe what the government says, while in reality radiation is still there — and it is killing children. They are dying of heart conditions, asthma, leukemia, thyroid complications. Lots of kids are extremely exhausted after school, others are simply unable to attend PE classes. But the authorities are still hiding the truth from us, and I don’t know why. Don’t they have children of their own? It hurts so much to know they can’t protect our children.

- Sophie Shevardnadze, host: The United Nations report on the radiation fallout from Fukushima says no radiation-related deaths or acute diseases have been observed among the workers and the general public exposed. So it’s not that dangerous after all? Or is there not enough information available to make proper assessments?
- Idogawa: This report is completely false. The report was made by a representative of Japan – Professor Hayano. Representing Japan, he lied to the whole world from the UN podium. When I was mayor, I knew many people who died from heart attacks, and then there were many people in Fukushima who died suddenly, even among young people. It’s a real shame that the authorities hide the truth from the whole world, from the UN. We need to admit that actually many people are dying, we are not allowed to say that, but TEPCO employees also are dying. But everyone is keeping mum about it.
It is just beginning.
What I see coming is something I never dreamed I would see………the end of our world as we have known it…….extinction of our species……………thanks to greed, mindless ambition and denial. Denial is fear based, it is how man can live in a self-created hell and tell himself it is okay regardless of all evidence to the contrary. It’s the same philosophy that causes a beaten spouse to envision a loving future with their abuser, contrary to all truth. They will stay in their hell rather than venture into any unfamiliar changes. They will die in what they know rather than brave into any change. The only constant in life is change, and most spend their lives running from it.
I was a city woman who followed a lifetime dream to live in the woods & was able to live twelve years in a magnificent coastal rain forest. I learned many things from the experience…..much about how alive and powerful this beautiful planet is…….how connected the birds are to the trees and the fish and all living things, how intelligent they all are….the illusion that man runs this planet is just that……illusion. Man is so tiny in relation to the planet…….so short lived and insignificant.
Cities, teaming with fools and machines strangling us with concrete, pollution and death seem safer except to those of us who know better. The Concrete Jungle seems to have conquered nature……..but it is but another illusion.
Already, the vulture birds that eat dead things in nature will not touch those radioactive corpses coming from the dying Pacific……….they sense and smell their poison, and won’t eat them. This one factor is going to have a huge effect on our environment. Once the system shuts down in one part, the entire line stops and cannot continue until it is repaired……just like a highly intelligent manufacturing line.
One of my old friends, long dead, was one of California’s pioneer aviators who went on and served the Navy in WW2, cranking up the Mfg of airplanes for the cause in our war. He developed some of the models for early manufacturing lines where each stop was responsible for one essential part of the building process, much like nature does it. If one part isn’t there, it can’t continue. His generation was the beginning of our end, starting on lighthearted hope and optimism…….ending with the debacle we face today.
If man were as creative and intelligent as he thinks he is, the world would come together, face this disaster, and find a solution solving all our energy needs using sources from nature, much as Egypt probably did. Instead, the US continues trying to find nations to invade regardless the world has lost interest in their major export of high technology war, and has moved on without it. We are the Sick Man of the Americas……took over 250 years to build, and less than 15 to destroy. The only ones that seem unaware of this are the fools that led us off the cliff………all that is left is the falling.
We have fools in power, the same sort that lost Egypt to Rome, and the greedy corrupt fools that caused Rome to collapse. Government by group always reverts to the average, and all brilliance is lost. Kettering, the man who is remembered for building GM into one of the world’s first foremost corporations was asked what he would do if he found he had hired a genius. His reply was prophetic…..”fire him, he would not fit in the teams that build our vehicles and could not be controlled.”
Such folly is what the west was built upon; this corporate dream of a corporate controlled world is going up in smoke. It will never happen because our leaders are not facing the truth that would aid our survival as a species…..joining the 98% of past world residents who became extinct.
I often pondered what caused entire great civilizations of the past to vanish seemingly overnight without a trace……never conceiving I would see such a collapse with my own eyes.
In less than two years, the Pacific will be totally dead. 80% of our oxygen comes from the living oceans.
What I see coming is biblical…….never imagining I would see it with my own eyes. I see no hope.
It’s the official silence by the people whose wages we pay that disappoints and worries me.
It can only reflect their total inability to act as they were elected to do. Which means we are rudderless as a world.
To Squodgy: I agree 100%….it is very scary, because they are fools, and haven’t a clue of what to do. It takes guts, and none of them have any because they are bought and paid for long ago. Such people are soulless, and have no courage at all.

I don’t know about soul-less, as I think they may have gone in innocently thinking they could make a difference as many a UK MP has, only to eventually walk away realising the system is run by others and you cannot change it without revolution, which the system has been engineered to protect itself against.
If we live, we WILL be serfs again.
To Squodgy: I have never been a serf, and will never be one……..I would prefer death.
