Moscow received 20 cm (8 inches) of snow overnight, which, according to the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, is the heaviest snowfall for this particular day since 1966.
The blizzard dumped more than half of the average monthly snowfall on the Russian capital from late Tuesday to early Wednesday.
