Japan Gov. To Give Up On Desired Radiation Levels As ‘Decontamination’ Fails

Ministry of the Environment and local govs consider to give up current desired radiation level after decontamination (Fukushima Diary, June 8, 2014):

Ministry of the Environment and the local governments are considering to give up the current desired radiation level after decontamination because it’s overly difficult to achieve.

The current desired level is 0.23 ?Sv/h. However some of the local governments have been requesting Ministry of the Environment to raise it to be “the more realistic level”.

Ministry of the Environment considers to raise it to be 0.4 ~ 0.6 ?Sv/h, which is 2 ~ 3 times much as now. However they state the additional annual dose can be less than 1 mSv for some reason.

The internal exposure dose, which is more serious than external exposure, has never been reviewed.
