– The Full List Of People Who Think Putin Is The New Hitler (ZeroHedge, March 5, 2014):
When Hillary Clinton compared Russia’s incursion into Ukraine to the early days of Nazi Germany’s expansion, she joined an illustrious band who have compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler since the 2008 Georgia crisis.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.): “If you could go back in time, would you have allowed Adolf Hitler to host the Olympics in Germany? To have the propaganda coup of inviting the world into Nazi Germany and putting on a false front?”
Former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezisnki (in 2008): Putin is “following a course that is horrifyingly similar to that taken by Stalin and Hitler in the 1930s.”
And again today: Called Putin “a partially comical imitation of (former Italian Prime Minister Benito) Mussolini and a more menacing reminder of Hitler.”
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird: “The Sudetenland had a majority of Germans. That gave Germany no right to do this in the late 1930s.”
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper: “We haven’t seen this kind of behavior since the Second World War.”
Anti-Putin activist and former chess champion Garry Kasparov: “Intentionally or not, the Putin regime has followed the Berlin 1936 playbook quite closely for Sochi.”
Russian historian Andrey Zubov: “This has all happened before. Austria. Early March, 1938. The Nazis want to build up their Reich at the expense of another state.”
British actor and gay rights activist Stephen Fry: “He is making scapegoats of gay people, just as Hitler did Jews. He cannot be allowed to get away with it.”
International security expert Jonathan Eyal: “The Sudetenland option is not his first priority, but it is his fail safe priority.”
Russian satirist Viktor Shenderovich: In reference to Russian figure skater Yulia Lipnitskaya, Shenderovich said he liked her “very much! But if you only knew how much Berliners in the summer of 1936 liked shot putter Hans Woelke … a smiling, handsome young man who symbolized the youth of the new Germany!”
We are sure there are plenty more to come…
Does anyone else remember learning about projection in Psych 1A?
I remember a sharp marketing man who worked with us years ago. He said to me “Marilyn, if you want to know what people are like, ask them about other people….they will tell you all about themselves.”
Profound wisdom. These clowns are looking in a mirror, and projecting their evil onto Putin.
Putin is far better educated and controlled than Hitler could ever dream of being. Hitler was an F student in high school……Germans kept good records, and the reports survived…….he was a failure at everything he ever did.
He was in the right place at the right time……for him……otherwise, he would have died in the obscurity and poverty he deserved. History has strange openings, and in an environment of high inflation, hunger, poverty and want, his rage appealed to the Germans, and he was able to take off from that Beer Tavern event in the 1920s. At first, like the tea party idiots, he was leader of a fringe group, and few gave him much worry……..until it was too late.
Fanatics are very dangerous people because they are blind to everything but their obsession.
Putin is no fanatic, he is a cool, collected, logical, and highly educated player. I would liken him more to a Napoleon than a Hitler. Napoleon was the first warring general to take archaeologists and engineers into the battlefield with him. In Egypt, they found and preserved the Rosetta Stone which deciphered hieroglyphics.
When Napoleon became first Counsel of France, it was bankrupt. When he left in 1815, it was virtually debt free. The idea of a European Union was his idea, but in those days, all nations used gold, not smoke and mirrors.
I could go on, but I think I made my point. I do see Putin as a growing world leader of moment, but not a Hitler.
The fact that Putin IS “…a cool, collected, logical and highly educated player…” makes him all the MORE dangerous in the light of what he has already done and no doubt plans to do when the hubbub over what he’s already done simmers down….exactly what Hitler did in the years leading up to WW2. All those glowing qualities give him the smarts to use the “system” to his best advantage.
