Description:

Video has emerged showing police in Brazil shooting rounds from a helicopter at an accused drug trafficker on the run. The car eventually stopped and was surrounded by people in the area.

The alleged drug trafficker Marcio Pereira did manage to escape but was found dead the next day in a parked car.

Since the video aired on BrazilianTV, police have launched an investigation to see if the officers involved used excessive force in their pursuit. Report by Sarah Johnston.

  1. Many years ago, when I was young, in the 1960s, I attended a private boarding school for girls and we had students from all over the world. One friend I had was from Brazil, her father was very high in the Brazilian government. The idea of shooting from a chopper at a civilian fits…….the top people had all the power.
    Her father died while playing Russian Roulette with several of his high official friends, and my friend went home, and we lost touch.
    Brazil has always been this way, regardless of the press they get for being so enlightened. In some ways, using alternative fuels to oil and lighting their homes, they are. The educational standards are pretty good. But, government has always been very dominant.
