Doctors are being investigated by police over the death of an 11-month-old baby from a drug overdose at a NHS hospital.
Detectives dramatically halted a coroner’s inquest into the death of Sophie Burgess on Friday to launch a new investigation into the medics who have been accused of a cover-up over her death.
The alleged blunder at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey, is being probed by police after a toxicologist told the coroner that little Sophie had been injected with almost five times the recommended dose of the powerful anti-seizure drug phenytoin.
