New Brunswick – More than 130,000 customers lose power:

Ice storm knocks down power lines and topples power poles.

In some areas, restoration of power will take days.

Three communities in northeastern New Brunswick declared a state of emergency today as a result of the ice storm.

Many of the initial outages were on the eastern edge of the province, with more than 130,000 customers without power at the height of the storm Wednesday.

The mayors or municipal councils in Tracadie, Shippagan and Lameque declared emergencies as many residents remain without electricity.
