– Scotland: Anglican Cathedral Epiphany service features Qur’an reading denying Jesus is Son of God:
Lord, what fools these Anglicans be. When is the mosque service featuring a New Testament reading affirming that Jesus is the Son of God?
The Qur’an reading at the cathedral was apparently part or all of this: “And mention in the Book Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man. She said, ‘Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, if you should be fearing of Allah.’ He said, ‘I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you a pure boy.’ She said, ‘How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?’ He said, ‘Thus: your Lord says, “It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter decreed.”‘ So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, ‘Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten.’ But he called her from below her, ‘Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, “Indeed, I have sworn to the Most Merciful a fast, so I will not speak today to man.”‘ Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, ‘O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.’ So she pointed to him. They said, ‘How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?’ He said, ‘Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive and dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.’ That is Jesus, the son of Mary – the word of truth about which they are in dispute. It is not for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (Qur’an 19:16-35)
That last bit, “It is not for Allah to take a son,” is in direct contradiction to what the Anglican Church is supposed to believe: “And the angel said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)
The idea that Jesus is the Son of God is a central, foundational tenet of Christianity, held by all Christian sects, Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. What kind of madness has overtaken the Anglicans in Glasgow, that they would allow what is ostensibly a central belief of their faith to be denied in the place that is supposed to be the site of the purest and most vibrant expression of that faith? Clearly their religion is not Christianity in any form, but Leftist multiculturalism. What they will ultimately find, to their shock and horror, is that their Muslim partners in this multicultural endeavor have no intention of reciprocating their generosity and hospitality, but will ultimately only subjugate them under the hegemony of Islamic law. They’re already halfway there.

Christians are familiar with the Bible texts that detail the conception and birth of Jesus to His mother, the Virgin Mary.
But they are not so used to hearing the Muslim version of the story read out in church. And especially not on Epiphany, which celebrates the incarnation of God as His son Jesus – a doctrine denied by Muslims.
Michael Nazir-Ali, a leading evangelical Christian in Britain, has now condemned the reading on a service at the Scottish Episcopal Church’s Glasgow Cathedral last Friday.
The congregation at St Mary’s cathedral heard the Muslim version of the Virgin Mary’s conception of Jesus, from the Koran’s Sura 19, sung by Madinah Javed. The passage explains how Mary gave birth after an angel told her God would give her a child.
AdvertisementMuslims believe Jesus was a prophet, and that He was a precursor to Mohammed rather than the Son of God.
Sura 19 states that Mary was “ashamed” after she gave birth, and that the infant Jesus miraculously spoke to her from his crib and claimed he was “a servant of God”.
It denies Jesus was the Son of God.
A post on the cathedral’s Facebook page describes the service as a “wonderful event”.
It ays [sic]: “The congregation was also reminded during the service that it is not only Christians who give honour to Jesus. We were joined by friends from two local Muslim communities.” The post also shares a video of the recitation.
But Nazir-Ali, former Bishop of Rochester condemned the reading and called for discipline against those involved.
“The authorities of the Scottish Episcopal Church should immediately repudiate this ill-advised invitation,” he said in a statement.
He also called for the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to publicly distance the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion from the event.
” Christians should know what their fellow citizens believe and this can include reading the Qur’an for themselves, whether in the original or in translation. This is not, however, the same thing as having it read in Church in the context of public worship,” he said.
“It is particularly insensitive to have this passage read in Church on the Feast of the Epiphany when we celebrate not only Christ’s manifestation to the gentiles but also his baptism and the divine declaration, ‘you are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased’.”…
