AND NOW: Obese Pregnant Women Given Diabetes Pills To Reduce Size Of Babies In The Womb

‘In a world first trial’ = Pregnant mothers used as guinea pigs

‘Researchers are hoping’ = They have not the foggiest idea what they are doing

What could possibly go wrong?

Obesity treated in the womb (Herald Sun, April 02, 2012):

  • Obese women given diabetes pills in drug trial
  • Aim to reduce the size of their babies in the womb
  • “Saying at that stage to eat less is not particularly helpful”

OBESE mothers are being given diabetes pills to reduce the chance of them having a fat baby.

In a world first trial, 400 overweight pregnant women in the UK and Scotland will be prescribed metformin – a drug that has been used for decades to treat diabetes and is cleared for pregnancy.

Researchers are hoping that taking metformin from the second trimester onwards will have result in smaller babies and cut the risk of stillbirth, maternal death and cardiovascular disease.

The trial has angered many health experts who say overweight mothers should be encouraged to exercise and eat properly rather than just pop a pill to produce a thinner baby.

The BS Meter Just Hit New Record Highs: ??’CO2 In The Atmosphere Is Making Us All Fatter’: Researcher Says We Are Increasing In Size As Gas Levels Go Up

… and the increase in obese people has certainly nothing to do with addicitve food additives, a terrible diet and lack of exercise, correct?

– ??‘CO2 in the atmosphere is making us all fatter’: Researcher says we are increasing in size as gas levels go up (Daily Mail, Mar 14, 2012):

Could CO2 emissions be making us fat?

The startling theory has been put forward by a Danish researchers, who say that the increase in obese people in Denmark is roughly equivalent to the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Researcher Lars-Georg Hersoug studied the weight of both fat and thin people over 22 years, and first strated looking for explanations after noticing even the thin people were putting on the pounds.
Hersoug, now a post-doc at the Research Centre for Prevention and Health at Glostrup University Hospital, told Science Nordic: ‘The normal theory is that fat people get fatter because they don’t move as much as they should.

‘But the study showed that thin people also get fatter, and this happened over the whole of the 22-year period of the study.’

When he looked around for other factors, he saw how the CO2 concentration of the atmosphere had also increased in correlation to the weight gain.

Description:

Raised on a wildlife reserve in Alaska, 15-year-old Garrett was interested in the dietary habits of the farm animals. After the tragic death of his mother, Garrett’s father decided to home-school his son and assigned a book written by Dr. Max Gerson that proposed a direct link between diet and a cure for cancer.

Fascinated, Garrett embarks in this documentary on a cross-country road trip to investigate The Gerson Therapy. He meets with scientists, doctors and cancer survivors who reveal how it is in the best interest of the multi-billion dollar medical industry to dismiss the notion of alternative and natural cures.

Illinois Lawmaker Proposes A ‘Fat Tax’ For Obese Children

Slim hopes: Senator Shane Cultra proposed a ‘fat tax’

Obesity levels have risen sharply in the past 20 years in the U.S. and one Illinois lawmaker thinks he has the solution – force parents of chunky children to lose their tax breaks.

One in four people in a staggering 33 states are obese and State Senator Shane Cultra says that hitting people in their pockets is the way to slim-down the country.

‘It’s the parents responsibility that have obese kids,’ he said yesterday. ‘Take the tax deduction away for parents that have obese kids.’

Absolute Madness: Babies Given Anti-Obesity Drugs In The Womb

Babies to be given diet drug in the womb to stop them being born overweight in trial described as ‘disturbing’ by weight loss groups.

One hundred obese mums-to-be will be given Metformin as part of a three-year study to tackle obesity rates and reduce the number of difficult births.

Patients at Liverpool Women’s Hospital will be given the drug to reduce the food supply to their unborn babies, although it will not help the mums themselves to lose weight.

Leading the trial, senior lecturer in obstetrics, Dr Andrew Weeks, said: “It is about trying to improve outcomes in pregnancy for women who are overweight.

“The problem is babies tend to be larger and many of the downsides of being overweight during pregnancy relate to the birth.”

McDonald’s, KFC, Kellogg’s, Unilever, Mars And PepsiCo To Help Write UK Health Policy

Department of Health putting fast food companies at heart of policy on obesity, alcohol and diet-related disease

The Department of Health is putting the fast food companies McDonald’s and KFC and processed food and drink manufacturers such as PepsiCo, Kellogg’s, Unilever, Mars and Diageo at the heart of writing government policy on obesity, alcohol and diet-related disease, the Guardian has learned.

In an overhaul of public health, said by campaign groups to be the equivalent of handing smoking policy over to the tobacco industry, health secretary Andrew Lansley has set up five “responsibility deal” networks with business, co-chaired by ministers, to come up with policies. Some of these are expected to be used in the public health white paper due in the next month.

The groups are dominated by food and alcohol industry members, who have been invited to suggest measures to tackle public health crises. Working alongside them are public interest health and consumer groups including Which?, Cancer Research UK and the Faculty of Public Health. The alcohol responsibility deal network is chaired by the head of the lobby group the Wine and Spirit Trade Association. The food network to tackle diet and health problems includes processed food manufacturers, fast food companies, and Compass, the catering company famously pilloried by Jamie Oliver for its school menus of turkey twizzlers. The food deal’s sub-group on calories is chaired by PepsiCo, owner of Walkers crisps.

Diabetes and Obesity Rates Soar to ‘Shocking’ Levels: 1 in 20 British Adults Has Diabetes

One in 20 British adults has diabetes, according to new figures from GP practices

The number of people with diabetes has soared by 150,000 in the past year and one in 20 adults in the UK now has the condition, according to the latest figures from GP practices.

The data released by the charity Diabetes UK also shows that almost one in 10 adults, or 5.5 million people, are obese. The charity described these figures as “shocking” and it is calling on the government to put into practice its rhetoric on tackling health problems through prevention.

There is a strong link with type 2 diabetes and being overweight, sedentary and eating unhealthily. About 90% of diabetics – 2.5 million people in the UK – suffer from the type 2 condition. The figures, collected from GP practices between April 2009 and March this year, showed that about 2.8 million people aged 17 and over have diabetes — an increase of more than 150,000 since last year.

Another 1.1 million people are likely to suffer from diabetes without being aware of it. Diabetes UK has a risk score test on its website that can help to show an individual’s likelihood of developing type 2.

Mexico bans junk food in schools amid new crackdown on childhood obesity

An increasing number of Mexican children are gorging themselves on American fast food and soft drinks

Mexico is looking to battle the bulging waistlines of its children by banning the sale of junk food in its schools, including many of the traditional treats generations of kids have grown up with.

Getting the axe along with modern soft drinks and sweets will be salted tamarind sweets, pork rinds and atole, the thick and sweet cornstarch-based beverage served piping hot in the morning.

The anti-obesity guidelines presented by health and education officials make recommendations that at times seem more suited for a Manhattan salad bar than a Mexican school yard.

Tortas – the often overstuffed, greasy, meat-packed sandwiches popular in Mexico – are out, unless they are ‘light’ versions such as beans, avocado and cheese, or chicken-and-vegetables. Only low-fat tacos, burritos and salads will be allowed.

Study: Epidemic of Vitamin D Deficiency

vitamin-d

(NaturalNews) There is an epidemic of vitamin D deficiency sweeping across our modern world, and it’s an epidemic of such depth and seriousness that it makes the H1N1 swine flu epidemic look like a case of the sniffles by comparison. Vitamin D deficiency is not only alarmingly widespread, it’s also a root cause of many other serious diseases such as cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease.

A new study published in the March, 2010 issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that a jaw-dropping 59 percent of the population is vitamin D deficient. In addition, nearly 25 percent of the study subjects were found to have extremely low levels of vitamin D.

Lead author of the study, Dr. Richard Kremer at the McGill University Health Center, said “Abnormal levels of vitamin D are associated with a whole spectrum of diseases, including cancer, osteoporosis, and diabetes, as well as cardiovascular and autoimmune disorders.”

This new study also documents a clear link between vitamin D deficiency and stored body fat. This supports a theory I’ve espoused here on NaturalNews for many years: That sunshine actually promote body fat loss. Vitamin D may be the hormonal mechanism by which this fat loss phenomenon operates.

The research findings on vitamin D, by the way, get even better…

Activator for the immune system

Recent research carried out at the University of Copenhagen has revealed that vitamin D activates the immune system by “arming” T cells to fight off infections.

Pentagon Study: A Third of US Youth Too Fat, Sickly To Serve, Most of The Rest Are Too Dumb Or Have Used Too Many Drugs to Qualify

As a side note:

The US military won’t accept people who are or were on Ritalin (Concerta, Medikinet, Equasym).

“Ritalin uncouples the frontal lobe from the rest of the brain.” (This information was given to me on a lecture by a German brain researcher that is a good friend of the source of this information, a German Prof. of Neuroscience)

The frontal lobe is the crowning achievement of humanity. You are a zombie without it, but that is not the reason that the US military won’t accept people who are or were once on Ritalin.

The effect of Ritalin (Concerta, Medikinet, Equasym) on the brain is like that of several harmful drugs combined and this will limit your combat capability a lot. Ritalin destroys the brain.

(PS: Obesity is in 99% of the cases so easy to cure.)

Study to show that when all factors are considered, 75% of military-age youth are not eligible to serve.

the-pentagon-000

(USA TODAY) More than a third of American youth of military age are unfit for service, mainly because they are too fat or sickly, the Army Times reports, quoting the latest Pentagon figures.

Most of the rest are too dumb or have used too many drugs to qualify, the study shows.

The report says 35% of the 31 million Americans aged 17 to 24 are unqualified because of physical and medical issues.

“The major component of this is obesity,” Curt Gilroy, the Pentagon’s director of accessions, tells the Times. “We have an obesity crisis in the country. There’s no question about it.”

He also said young people, by and large, can’t do push-ups.

“And they can’t do pull-ups,” Gilroy says. ” And they can’t run.”

The Times says the Pentagon gets its data from the Centers for Disease Control, which has found that the percentage of youth 18 to 34 who are considered obese has jumped from 6% in 1987 to 23% now.

Here’s the Pentagon’s breakdown of the ineligible population, according to the Times:

* Medical/physical problems, 35%.
* Illegal drug use, 18%.
* Mental Category V (the lowest 10% of the population), 9%.
* Too many dependents under age 18, 6%.
* Criminal record, 5%.

Update at 1:06 p.m. ET: The Times reports that Education Secretary Arne Duncan and a group of retired military officers will issue a report on Thursday warning that the situation is so dire it amounts to a threat to national security.

The Incredible Benefits of Coconut Oil: Weight Loss – Kills Candida, Harmful Bacteria and Viruses (Incl. HIV) – Boosts Immunity – Healthy Skin

(NaturalNews) Research indicates, animal fats have long chain saturated fat, while coconut oil contains healthy, healing, medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). This saturated fat is considered a rare and important building block of every cell in the human body, and can actually reduce cholesterol and heart disease.

This incredible food boosts immunity, kills bacteria and viruses, protects against cancer and other degenerative diseases, and prevents osteoporosis by promoting calcium absorption. It also slows down ageing and is good for skin radiance.

Weight Loss from Coconut Oil/Butter

American farmers attempted to plump up their cattle by feeding them coconut oil. Instead of gaining weight, their cows lost weight!

This is because:

1. The long-chain fats nearly always go to fat storage, while the MCFAs (medium chain fatty acids) are burned for energy… which is why you feel great after eating this coconut super food.

2. Coconut oil helps to stimulate the metabolism, so you burn more calories each day, which helps with weight loss and energy levels.

Coconut Oil/Butter is Packed with Lauric Acid

Coconut oil, like human breast milk, is rich in lauric acid, which boosts immunity and destroys harmful bacteria and viruses. In fact, coconut oil is one of the closest foods on the planet to breast milk.

Scientists in the Philippines researched the effects of coconut oil and lauric acid on patients with the HIV virus that causes Aids. The results were amazing. Most of the Aids patients showed a dramatic drop in the HIV virus count, in some cases to “undetectable” levels. While there needs to be a lot more research, there is certainly evidence to suggest that people with this virus would benefit from having a diet rich in coconut.

Council warning to families guilty of neglect

Grossly overweight children may be taken from their families and put into care if Britain’s obesity epidemic continues to escalate, council chiefs said yesterday.

The Local Government Association argued that parents who allowed their children to eat too much could be as guilty of neglect as those who did not feed their children at all.

Obesity contributes to global warming: study

(Those people got paid to make such an idiotic study. – The Infinite Unknown)

GENEVA (Reuters) – Obesity contributes to global warming, too.

Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says.

This adds to food shortages and higher energy prices, the school’s researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in the journal Lancet on Friday.

“We are all becoming heavier and it is a global responsibility,” Edwards said in a telephone interview. “Obesity is a key part of the big picture.”

At least 400 million adults worldwide are obese. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects by 2015, 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will be obese.

In their model, the researchers pegged 40 percent of the global population as obese with a body mass index of near 30. Many nations are fast approaching or have surpassed this level, Edwards said.
