How The US Is Arming Both Sides Of The Iraqi Conflict

How The US Is Arming Both Sides Of The Iraqi Conflict (Zerohedge, June 12, 2014):

Recall a week ago we wrote “US Begins Delivering F-16s To Iraq This Week, A Decade After It Wiped Out Iraq’s Air Force” in which we said:

the US will deliver the first of 36 F-16 fighter jets to Iraq in what Baghdad’s envoy to the United States called a “new chapter” in his country’s ability to defend its vast borders with Iran and other neighbors.

….the US earlier in March provided Iraq with some 100 Hellfire missiles as well as assault rifles and other ammunition. Then in April the US sent more arms, providing Iraq with 11 million rounds of ammunition and other supplies.

It is unknown how many of these have fallen into Al Qaeda/ISIS hands (we do know that at least one Iraqi Black Hawk chopper was captured during the rush for Mosul). What is known is that as PBS Frontline reported two weeks ago, while the administration has denied arming Syrian “rebels”, i.e. the same ISIS militants that have crossed the border and are now fighting in Iraq…

Gruesome Footage Of ISIS Atrocities Reveals Al-Qaeda Jihadists ‘Will Stop At Nothing’

Gruesome Footage Of ISIS Atrocities Reveals Al Qaeda Jihadists “Will Stop At Nothing” (ZeroHedge, June 13, 2014):

Judging by the gruesome propaganda video being released by ISIS, it is no wonder the Iraqi soldiers and police stripped off uniforms and ran… As The Daily Mail reports, blood-thirsty jihadists are carrying out summary executions on civilians, Iraqi soldiers and police officers – including 17 in one street alone – on their warpath to Baghdad, the UN said today. As a shocking picture of the ISIS insurgency continues to develop, the Islamist group are posting barbaric videos online with the intent of showing the world they will stop at nothing to achieve their end game. The aim is to terrorise Sunnis in Iraq’s army and police forces and deepen their already low morale. It appears to be working as that fear is one factor behind the stunning collapse of Iraqi security forces.

Via The Daily Mail,

In one, which is too graphic to publish, fighters are seen knocking on the door of a Sunni police major in the dead of night.

US Airstrikes To Support Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Offensive In Iraq?

US airstrikes to support Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s offensive in Iraq? (RT, June 12, 2014):

Iran deployed its Revolutionary Guard to help Iraq battle insurgents from a group inspired by Al-Qaeda, according to a recent report. In the meantime, the US is mulling airstrikes to support the Iraqi government.

On Wednesday, Al-Qaeda affiliate insurgents from the armed group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) conquered former dictator Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit, marking the second major loss for the Iraqi government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Earlier this week, insurgents captured Mosul, the second-largest city in the country. With jihadists threatening Baghdad and security forces unable resist the Sunni Islamists’ assault, Maliki turned to foreign powers for help, getting responses from two unlikely allies, Iran and the US.

Militant Group ISIS Expelled From Al-Qaeda For Being ‘TOO EXTREME’ – Head Of All US Military Psychological Operations Programs Was Expelled From The Church Of Satan For Being Too Evil

ISIS “too extreme for al-Qaeda” (Veterans Today, Feb 10, 2014):

Col. Michael Aquino is a man of remarkable achievements. He was expelled from the Church of Satan for being too evil – and then, after being prosecuted and miraculously acquitted of horrific child abuse, was promoted to head all US military psychological operations programs.

When the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, called the US government “the Great Satan” he wasn’t kidding.

Getting kicked out of the Church of Satan for being too evil – now THAT is impressive. But the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has managed an equally impressive feat: They have been expelled from al-Qaeda for being too extremist in their approach to terrorism.

Too extreme for al-Qaeda?!

“ISIS is now officially the biggest and baddest global jihadi group on the planet,” Brookings terror expert William McCants told the New York Times.  “Nothing says ‘hard-core’ like being cast out by Al Qaeda.”
