Syria War: What the mainstream media isn’t telling you about Eastern Ghouta

Syria War: What the mainstream media isn’t telling you about Eastern Ghouta:

As Syrian government forces battle Jaysh al-Islam to retake Eastern Ghouta, Western media outlets have totally ignored the atrocities of the insurgents, preferring to blame all the violence on the “regime.”

They’re at it again, howling about a town in Syria that’s being retaken by the government. This time it’s Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of Damascus and one of the last remaining strongholds of the Islamist insurgency that has torn the country apart over the last seven years.

Before Eastern Ghouta it was Aleppo and before Aleppo it was Madaya and before Madaya it was Homs, and so on. All of these places were framed as though there were no armed insurgents present, and the Syrian authorities were just mercilessly massacring civilians out of cartoonishly villainous bloodlust. If the insurgents were mentioned, they were usually (and still are) presented by the western press as moderate rebels and freedom fighters.

Assad: Ghouta op against terrorists will continue in parallel with helping civilians escape

Assad: Ghouta op against terrorists will continue in parallel with helping civilians escape:

The Syrian leader vowed to continue the operation in eastern Ghouta, underlining its importance in the fight against terrorism. He said that it would be conducted in parallel with work on allowing civilians to leave the area.

We will continue to fight terrorism… And the Ghouta operation is a continuation of the fight against terrorism,” Syrian President Bashar Assad said in broadcast comments to journalists. “There is no contradiction between a truce and combat operations. The progress achieved yesterday and the day before in Ghouta by the Syrian Arab Army was made during this truce.”

Therefore we must continue with the operation in parallel with opening the way for civilians to leave.” An “overwhelming majority” of the civilian population in eastern Ghouta “wants to break out from terrorists’ hands,” Assad said.

Terrorist ‘teacher’ found guilty of grooming ‘army of children’ to attack London landmarks

Terrorist ‘teacher’ found guilty of grooming ‘army of children’ to attack London landmarks:

A self-styled teacher and supporter of Islamic State has been found guilty of trying to create an “army of children” more than a hundred-strong to help carry out a wave of terrorist attacks across London.

The defendant, 25-year-old Umar Haque was convicted of preparing acts of terrorism between March 25 and May 18 last year. Among his intended targets were iconic British landmarks including Big Ben, the Queen’s Guard and Heathrow Airport.

Haque subjected up to 110 children between the ages of 11 and 14 to beheading videos and other violent militant propaganda under the guise of teaching Islamic Studies, the court heard.

Despite the fact Haque had no teaching qualifications, he had access to 250 young people over five years at two schools through his job as an administrator. Among the schools where he taught, was the fee-paying Lantern of Knowledge Islamic school in Leyton, and Essex Islamic Academy, also known as Ripple Road Mosque, in east London.
