Army Major: “Unmitigated Failure” – Operation Iraqi Freedom, 15 Years Later:

My boys were sacrificed on the altar of American hubris... It has been 15 years since OIF, and there – in Iraq and Syria – US servicemen remain, wedged between Saudi-backed Sunni Islamists, and Iranian-backed Shia militiamen…”

Turkey’s Erdogan Vows New Military Operations Into Eastern Syria And Sinjar, Iraq

Turkey’s Erdogan Vows New Military Operations Into Eastern Syria And Sinjar, Iraq:

Following Turkey’s two-month long invasion of Northern Syria and subsequent takeover of the predominantly Kurdish town of Afrin, the logical question that remains is: what ‘s next for the ‘Mad Sultan’ Erdogan?

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Sunday victory speech didn’t lack for the usually robust symbolism denoting neo-Ottoman aspirations far beyond the borders of Turkey (Erdogan gleefully exclaimed, “Now the Turkish flag will fly over there! The flag of the Free Syrian Army will fly over there!” – while comparing the Afrin campaign to the Ottoman defense of Gallipoli during World War I at a ceremony marking the WWI allied powers assault to open the Dardanelles).

And true to form the Turkish president on the following day promised further “extensions” of his forces in the region, including into Eastern Syria and Iraq.

Ron Paul: After 15 Years, Perhaps We Should Listen To The Iraqi Parliament

Ron Paul: After 15 Years, Perhaps We Should Listen To The Iraqi Parliament:

This month marks the 15th anniversary of the US war on Iraq. The “shock and awe” attack was launched based on “stove-piped” intelligence fed from the CIA and Pentagon through an uncritical and compliant US mainstream media. The US media was a willing accomplice to this crime of aggression committed by the George W. Bush Administration.

Despite the lies we were constantly bombarded with, Iraq never presented a threat to the United States. Iraq never had the weapons of mass destruction that the neocons used to frighten Americans into supporting the war. How many of them knew all along that there were no WMDs? We’ll never know. Attacking Iraq and overthrowing its leader was long a plan in the neocon playbook and they used the 9/11 attack on the US as an excuse to pull the plan off the shelf and put it into action.

MI6 may have got crucial intelligence on Iraq WMDs from a Nicolas Cage film. Bonus: the head of MI6 who helped fabricate the case for war was “Sir” Richard Dearlove–co-director of SC Strategy with the husband of the judge behind my arrest warrant.

(Mad Dog) Mattis: “War Is Not Over” In Iraq And Syria

Mattis: “War Is Not Over” In Iraq And Syria:

Declarations of victory over ISIS by both Iraq and Syria, along with Russia, are not having an impact on US military policy in the region, according to Defense Secretary James Mattis, who insisted on Friday that “the war is not over.”

Which isn’t to say that the US is determined to keep fighting a war against ISIS, as such, but rather that there’s definitely going to be a war against somebody in those countries. Mattis in particular has been keen to talk up the idea of an “ISIS 2.0” emerging in areas ISIS has been expelled from.
