Alice In Wonderland – Black Humor – Some Japanese Contaminated Beyond 100,000 CPM – Minister Of ‘Nuclear Power’ Goshi Hosono’s Face Shows Hiroshima ‘City Entering Exposure’ Spots? (Pics) – Decontamination Volunteers Die of Heart Attack

Alice in wonderland (Fukushima Diary, Nov. 15, 2011):

Today I appeared to somewhere official.

4 men interrogated me.

They wanted to make up a story that I was an international criminal or something.

It was a strange spectacle.

They tried to make me state I was involved in an international money laundering though I only bought an A-bike on eBay.

and I explained how risky the internal exposure of tritium is. lol

I told them to evacuate too ,but they were too busy at suspecting me.

It makes me feel like I’m alice in wonderland.

Nobody seems to care about radiation around in Tokyo.

Once you mention radiation, they’d call you ambulance.

Anyway, the result of today’s interrogation is supposed to come out around on 25th.

If it’s not friendly enough, I might need to emigrate to North Korea by boat.

It is the safest country because there is nothing to eat.
No risk of internal exposure.

EPA Delays Boiler Regulations by One Year, Puts Thousands of Lives at Risk

EPA Delays Boiler Regulations by One Year, Puts Thousands of Lives at Risk (EARTHJUSTICE, June 24, 2011):

With new timeline for boiler health protections, EPA endangers lives and flouts court’s authority

Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it will issue final standards to control toxic air pollution from industrial boilers by April 2012, more than a year after a federal court ordered the agency to finish the process. The delay places thousands of lives at risk and will saddle the American public with disease and economic burden that could have been avoided had the agency acted according to the court’s decision.

Below is a statement from Earthjustice attorney James Pew:

“By EPA’s own account, the practical result of this one year delay will be the death of as many as 6,500 people. The delay will also cause thousands of heart attacks, asthma attacks, and emergency room visits and hundreds of thousands of missed days of work and school due to illness caused by uncontrolled air pollution.”

“This delay is both a violation of the Clean Air Act and the decision made by a federal court that EPA had to finish these critical health protections last February. The agency’s unilateral choice to ignore these authorities is audacious and dangerous to the public’s health.”

How Low Doses Of Radiation Can Cause Heart Disease And Stroke

Flashback.

How Low Doses Of Radiation Can Cause Heart Disease And Stroke (Science Daily):

ScienceDaily (Oct. 23, 2009) — A mathematical model constructed by researchers at Imperial College London predicts the risk of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, stroke) associated with low background levels of radiation. The model shows that the risk would vary almost in proportion with dose.

Results, published October 23 in the open-access journal PLoS Computational Biology, are consistent with risk levels reported in previous studies involving nuclear workers.

Merck Wrote Drug Studies for Doctors

The drug maker Merck drafted dozens of research studies for a best-selling drug, then lined up prestigious doctors to put their names on the reports before publication, according to an article to be published Wednesday in a leading medical journal.

The article, based on documents unearthed in lawsuits over the pain drug Vioxx, provides a rare, detailed look in the industry practice of ghostwriting medical research studies that are then published in academic journals.

The article cited one draft of a Vioxx research study that was still in want of a big-name researcher, identifying the lead writer only as “External author?”

Vioxx was a best-selling drug before Merck took it off the market in 2004 over evidence linking it to heart attacks. Last fall, the company agreed to a $4.85 billion settlement to resolve tens of thousands of lawsuits filed by former Vioxx patients or their families.

The lead author of Wednesday’s article, Dr. Joseph S. Ross of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, said a close look at the Merck documents raised broad questions about the validity of much of the drug industry’s published research, because the ghostwriting practice appears to be widespread.

“It almost calls into question all legitimate research that’s been conducted by the pharmaceutical industry with the academic physician,” said Dr. Ross, whose article, written with colleagues, was published Wednesday in JAMA, The Journal of the American Medical Association. and posted Tuesday on the journal’s Web site.
