On July 12 of 2014 we reported that “after conducting countless sorties and bombing raids aimed at Hamas operatives in Gaza during the fifth day of Operation Protective Edge, but resulting in well over a hundred innocent civilian deaths in the past week, Israel, realizing it is not generating any brownie points with the international “humanitarian” media, finally did what it had threatened to do over the last few days – launch a ground assault.”

The ground assault promptly led to a mini-war in the Gaza Strip that left more than 2,100 Palestinians dead, of which 80% civilians, and reduced vast areas to rubble: a “war” which many speculated was a predetermined massacre by highly skilled, trained, and ethically drained Israeli soldiers who used civilians for target practice.

Lancet Medical Journal Accused Of ‘Hate Speech’ On Israeli Aggression In Gaza

Specifically referencing Israel’s military assault on Gaza last summer, the letter insisted “the massacre in Gaza spares no one.” Its victims include “the disabled and sick in hospitals, children playing on the beach or on the roof top, with a large majority of non-combatants,” the letter said.

The open letter’s signatories stressed the Israeli administration’s conduct in Gaza was an insult to their humanity, dignity, and intelligence. They denounced what they described as a “myth” propagated by Israel that its military aggression is conducted in a humanitarian manner.

– Palestinian ‘duped’ into selling priceless Banksy mural for £118 (RT, April 1, 2015):

A Palestinian man claims he was tricked into selling a Banksy mural worth thousands of pounds for a mere £118. The work had been painted on the door of his bombed-out house.

Banksy is believed to have infiltrated Gaza via Egypt earlier this year at considerable personal risk through an underground tunnel.

He painted four murals including one of the Greek goddess Niobe, who is pictured cowering amid the devastation left by Israeli bombing carried out last summer.

Her image was painted on a steel door, which was all that remained of the home of Rabie Darduna, 33, and his family who had been displaced during the war.

Banksy artworks are regularly valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds, but Darduna, who claims he was unaware of the door’s value and even of who Banksy was, sold it to a local artist for around £118.

The 32-year-old fisherman had built up his own artificial rock with planks of wood, tyres, and bits of metal, seemingly well within the area in which he and his colleagues are allowed to operate. It was while he was adding to this pile that an Israeli gunboat opened fire, wounding him fatally.

Just two day after the Turkish President Erdogan’s stunning outburst that “the culprits are clear: French citizens undertook this massacre and Muslims were blamed for it,” and blamed Mossad for masterminding it, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday accused his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu of committing “crimes against humanity” comparable to those of the Islamist gunmen behind the Paris attacks that left 17 dead.

As AFP reports,

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s comments on Thursday risk enflaming a new row in the increasingly tense bilateral relationship after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blasted Netanyahu for “daring” to attend the weekend’s anti-terror solidarity march in Paris after the attacks.

“Netanyahu has committed crimes against humanity the same as those terrorists who carried out the Paris massacre,” he told reporters in Ankara in televised comments.

Davutoglu said Netanyahu’s “crimes against humanity” included the deadly 2010 Israeli assault on a Turkish aid vessel and last year’s onslaught on Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Davutoglu said Netanyahu was “the head of a government which massacred children playing in the beaches in Gaza and destroyed thousands of houses.”

He said the Israeli premier’s government “made almost natural the killing of Palestinians at every opportunity.”

“I was asked by the Norwegian authorities to go down to continue working in Gaza. When we arrived at the Erez Crossing, I was told by Israeli soldiers that I could not go into Gaza. I had to turn back to Norway,” said the 67-year-old, who was attempting to return to the region for the first time since the end of Israel’s Gaza offensive, which ended in August, as reported by Norway’s VG newspaper.

Gaza Cut Off: Israel Closes Border Crossings Indefinitely

Israel has said it’s shutting the only two operating Gaza border crossings indefinitely. This comes a day after a projectile hit Israel from the strip, but caused no damage. Border closures threaten to isolate already devastated Gaza completely.

The move will affect both the Kerem Shalom and Erez border crossings, Haartez reported, quoting Israel’s defense establishment. The authorities have notified the Palestinians of the decision.

Meanwhile, the three other crossings into Gaza are still not operational and the passage from the area into Egypt – the Rafah crossing – remains closed.

From now on and until further notice, only critical humanitarian aid going into Gaza will be allowed via the Erez crossing.

Lawyers representing the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) have told the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) that the failure to freeze the licences was unlawful since there was a risk the equipment would be deployed in Gaza.

Andrew Smith, of CAAT, told The Guardian: “The UK government’s response to the bombardment of Gaza was unacceptable. Vince Cable [the business secretary] himself oversaw a review that identified 12 licences for arms that he accepted were likely to have been used in Gaza. Cable refused even to suspend them at the time, saying that he would only do so if the violence continued. The violence continued, more people died, and yet he failed to follow through on his word.”

British lawmaker George Galloway has been taken to hospital after being attacked in London.

Galloway was attacked by a pro-Israeli man in the western part of the city on Friday.

The MP was posing for a picture with some of his fans in Golborne Road, in Notting Hill neighborhood, when the attack took place.

Galloway’s spokesman said the attack appeared to be “connected with his comments about Israel,” as the attacker was shouting comments about the Holocaust. He added that the British MP sustained bruises as the result of the assault and was in “a pretty bad shape.”

IDF air strikes have leveled two multi-story buildings in Gaza; both are said to have housed Hamas facilities. The new tactic of bringing down entire buildings has been tested amid a new escalation of tensions in the Israeli-Gaza conflict.

A seven-story office building in the Gaza Strip’s southern town of Rafah was completely destroyed by an Israeli strike on Sunday morning, according to eyewitnesses. It’s not yet clear if there were injured or dead in the attack

Another strike in the same city hit a two-story shopping center, wounding seven and badly damaging the building.

The Israeli military claim both the buildings housed facilities linked to Palestinian militants. One of the offices in the leveled seven-story Zourab building belonged to the Hamas-run interior ministry, AP reports.
