A VOLCANO known as the Mountain of God could be about to erupt sparking fears it could destroy important archaeological sites.

Scientists studying the tremors of the volcano have warned it may blow ‘any second’, destroying the invaluable sites forever.

The 7,650ft volcano, also known as Ol Doinyo Lengai, is less than 70 miles from where footprints left by our ancestors 3.6 million years ago were found.

It is also close to a spot where 400 human footprints from 19,000 years ago were discovered by scientists.

We always knew that this would start happening.  Earlier this month, I wrote about the severe economic problems that are plaguing South America, but up to this point I have neglected to discuss the horrific famines that are breaking out all over Africa.  Right now there is a desperate need for food in South Sudan, Somalia, northeast Nigeria, Eritrea and Kenya.  And Yemen, even though it is not technically part of Africa, is being affected by many of the same factors that are crippling nations all over eastern Africa.  The United Nations says that more than 20 million people could die from starvation and disease if nothing is done.  When I write about economic collapse, this is the kind of thing that I am talking about, and we are starting to see alarming conditions spread across the globe.  Many believe that we could never possibly face this kind of food crisis in the western world, but unfortunately wishful thinking will only get you so far.

Around 400 migrants stormed the 20-foot high barrier between Morroco and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta early Friday morning leading to over a hundred injuries.

The rush of migrants trying to penetrate the Spanish territory is the highest in recent years. The Red Cross has reported that it has led to many of the migrants getting injured in the process including 25 hospitalisations and 103 suffering minor injuries, as well as two police officers being injured, reports El Faro de Ceuta.

According to reports the migrants stormed the border fence in several separate areas using tools and scissors to cut through the fence as others attempted to climb over the massive structure. Authorities say that most of the migrants were men from southern Africa and El Faro de Ceuta posted footage of the men who chanted “Spain!”

(CNN) – Malawi’s albinos are at risk of “total extinction” amid escalating attacks against them for their body parts, the United Nations warned.

Albinism is a genetic condition that leads to little or no pigment in the eyes, skin and hair. The southern African nation has about 10,000 albinos, according to the U.N.
In some African countries, albinos’ body parts are believed to bring wealth and good luck. As a result, attackers chop off their limbs and pluck out organs, and sell them to witchdoctors.
Even after albinos are killed, some attackers go a step further and steal their remains from graveyards, said Ikponwosa Ero, the United Nations’ expert on albinism.

The African Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), in a new report published Monday titled, “For your own good!” The chicanery behind GM non-commercial ‘orphan crops’ and rice for Africa shows that the GM industry is expanding its grasp to African traditional crops such as cassava, sorghum, sweet potato, pigeon pea, cowpea, banana as well as rice under the guise of philanthropy.

The report reveals that a great deal of research and development is currently underway into the genetic modification (GM) of these crops, with most of the on-going trials being focused on drought and salt tolerance, nitrogen use efficiency, resistance to tropical pests and diseases and nutritional enhancement (biofortification). The key countries that have been targeted include, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Malawi.

One hundred groups representing over five million Nigerians, comprising of farmers, faith-based organisations, civil society groups, students and local community groups, are vehemently opposing Monsanto’s attempts to introduce genetically modified (GM) cotton and maize into Nigeria’s food and farming systems.
