Boeing 767 & Airbus A340 Battle For The Same Airspace – Stunning Near Miss On Barcelona Runway (Video)

Caught On Tape – Stunning Near Miss On Barcelona Runway (ZeroHedge, July 7, 2014):

Boeing has had a tough week or two – the scandal over Ex-Im bank – its cheap funding source of competitive advantage, this weekend’s train derailment of Boeing fuselages, and now, in Barcelona, a 767 and an Airbus A340 battle for the same airspace coming within a few hundred feet of total carnage.

As The Daily Mail reports,

The dramatic moment two planes almost collided on a runway in Barcelona has been captured on camera.

The footage reveals the near-miss between a Boeing 767 from Russian airline Utair and an Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A340 at El Prat Airport in Spain.

It shows the Boeing coming in to land on the runway, making its final approach, as the Airbus, getting ready for a flight to Buenos Aires, taxis across its path.

The Boeing is forced to abort the landing, with the pilot carrying out an emergency ‘go-around’ procedure.

CIA Employee’s Quest To Release Information ‘Destroyed My Entire Career’

CIA employee’s quest to release information ‘destroyed my entire career’ (Washington Post, July 4, 2014):

His CIA career included assignments in Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq, but the most perilous posting for Jeffrey Scudder turned out to be a two-year stint in a sleepy office that looks after the agency’s historical files.

It was there that Scudder discovered a stack of articles, hundreds of histories of long-dormant conflicts and operations that he concluded were still being stored in secret years after they should have been shared with the public.

To get them released, Scudder submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act — a step that any citizen can take, but one that is highly unusual for a CIA employee. Four years later, the CIA has released some of those articles and withheld others. It also has forced Scudder out.

His request set in motion a harrowing sequence. He was confronted by supervisors and accused of mishandling classified information while assembling his FOIA request. His house was raided by the FBI and his family’s computers seized. Stripped of his job and his security clearance, Scudder said he agreed to retire last year after being told that if he refused, he risked losing much of his pension.

Germany’s failed attempts to get its gold back from the US ‘opens question of its sovereignty’ (RT, July 7, 2014):

There is neither real criticism from German politicians, nor any visible efforts to return German gold held in the US, so it seems that US controls Germany, economic analyst Michael Mross told RT.

In one of its recent reports Bloomberg claimed that Germany decided not to repatriate its gold reserves from the US, instead the Bundesbank issued an official statement that underscores it’s “trust” in its American partners. According to Bloomberg, Germany gave up after repatriating just 5 tons of gold, though earlier it was told that it would get all the German gold back by 2020.

RT: What’s really behind Germany’s efforts to get its gold reserves back?

Michael Mross: These German efforts to get back gold reserves are not really there. They are talking about it but it is only a simple and ridiculous theatre in my opinion. I cannot see any effort to do it. What we have is lack to re-transport or take back, 300 tons before 2020, but also this is ridiculous – last year they took back only 37 tons. At the end of the day, it is to make the public calm, but it is not really an effort to take back the gold.

The Benghazi scandal will eventually find the light of day. It is the story that will not die because some very powerful people are determined that the truth be brought out in order to promote regime change related to the Obama administration.

Cries for Help Ignored

Three times Ambassador Chris Stevens begged for more military protection and three times, then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, denied Stevens cries for help. Clinton did not respond to requests for help by saying no, she responded by not responding to the pleas through official channels.

Church should ‘weep and make reparation’: Pope meets victims of clerics’ sexual abuse (RT, July 7, 2014):

Pope Francis has apologized for the sexual abuse of children by Catholic clerics. The pontiff expressed his regrets for the Church’s ‘sin’ at a meeting with a group of victims of abuse – the first time a pope has met such a group inside the Vatican.

The Pope had a private morning Mass with six adult Catholics – two Irish, two Brits and two Germans – who were sexually abused by clergy, on Monday. He delivered a speech in what has been called “the strongest words ever.”

I ask for the grace to weep, the grace for the Church to weep and make reparation for her sons and daughters who betrayed their mission, who abused innocent persons,” the Pope said.

He begged forgiveness for the Church’s sexual abuse that – in his words – had become “a sacrilegious cult” that profaned God: “It is something more than despicable actions. It is like a sacrilegious cult, because these boys and girls had been entrusted to [priests] in order to be brought to God.”

Stiglitz: I’m ‘very uncomfortable’ with current stock levels (CNBC, July 7, 2014):

Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz said on Monday he is “very uncomfortable” with current stock market levels, arguing they do not equal a strong economic recovery in the United States.

The Dow breached 17,000 points on Thursday before the U.S. markets closed for the long July Fourth weekend. The jump came after the U.S. government reported the economy created a better-than-expected 288,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent.

“The reason the stock market is high, in part, is that interest rates are low, wages are low and the emerging markets are still growing much faster than the U.S. economy, let alone Europe,” Stiglitz said. He pointed to the fact that many U.S.-listed multinationals are increasingly getting a large chunk of their profits from emerging markets.

After a weekend of celebrating America’s birthday, traders could come back to the desks Monday and buy its currency, with the stage set for a U.S. dollar breakout in the second half of the year.

Strategists and traders have been predicting it for months: 2014 was supposed to be the year of the dollar, where the Federal Reserve’s tapering of quantitative easing and an improving economy would boost the greenback’s value against other currencies, where central banks are easing or dealing with economic or geopolitical challenges.

But they’ve been wrong.

AP, July 4, 2014 (emphasis added): Teams of scientists and engineers are still trying to determine exactly what caused a barrel [at New Mexico’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP)] from Los Alamos to burst […] Despite hundreds of experiments to date, investigators have been unable to create any reaction that would have caused the container to leak like it did […] The accident has […] indefinitely shuttered the mine […] According to the memo obtained by The Associated Press, [Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Principal Associate Lab Director Terry Wallace] told employees at a meeting Monday that the probe is focused on 16 barrels of highly acidic, nitrate-salt-bearing waste, including the drum that leaked at [WIPP]. Ten of the other barrels [11 total, including the one that ruptured] are also underground at the [WIPP] mine […] Wallace is quoted in the memo as saying that a technical review “identified certain conditions that might potentially cause an exothermic reaction inside a drum. Among them are neutralized liquids, a low pH and the presence of metals.”

Scientists Have Located the Brain’s On/Off Switch for Consciousness

Scientists Have Located the Brain’s On/Off Switch for Consciousness (Gizmodo, July 6, 2014):

Every one of us loses consciousness on a daily basis: it’s called sleep. But scientists have never understood which part of the brain controls when you’re conscious and when you’re not. Now, researchers seem to have found it by coincidence while studying an epileptic patient—and used electronic brain stimulation to flip the switch on and off.

As New Scientist reports, researchers at George Washington University were using deep brain electrodes to monitor brain signals and try to pinpoint the area of a patient’s brain that was causing her seizures. One of the electrodes was placed on the claustrum, a thin sheet of neurons running between major structures of the brain—and a region that’s never been studied with deep brain electrodes before.

What Your ‘Startlingly Intimate, Voyeristic’ NSA File Looks Like

NSA intercept 2

What Your “Startlingly Intimate, Voyeristic” NSA File Looks Like (ZeroHedge, July 6, 2014):

A few days ago, we asked a simple rhetorical question: “Are you targeted by the NSA?

The answer, sadly for those reading this, is very likely yes, as it was revealed that as part of the NSA’s XKeyscore program “a computer network exploitation system, as described in an NSA presentation, devoted to gathering nearly everything a user does on the internet” all it takes for a user to be flagged by America’s superspooks is to go to a website the NSA finds less than “patriotic” and that user becomes a fixture for the NSA’s tracking algos.

So assuming one is being tracked by the NSA – or as it is also known for politically correct reasons “intercepted” – as a “person of interest” or worse, just what kind of data does the NSA collect? The latest report by the WaPo titled “In NSA-intercepted data, those not targeted far outnumber the foreigners who are” sheds much needed light on just how extensive the NSA’s data collection effort is.

According to WaPo, the files on intercepted Americans “have a startlingly intimate, even voyeuristic quality. They tell stories of love and heartbreak, illicit sexual liaisons, mental-health crises, political and religious conversions, financial anxieties and disappointed hopes. The daily lives of more than 10,000 account holders who were not targeted are catalogued and recorded nevertheless.”

The Post reviewed roughly 160,000 intercepted e-mail and instant-message conversations, some of them hundreds of pages long, and 7,900 documents taken from more than 11,000 online accounts.

Why Obamacare Is Pushing Up Health Insurance Premiums

Why Obamacare Is Pushing Up Health Insurance Premiums (ZeroHedge, July 6, 2014):

Now that Obamacare has been enacted, Americans across the nation are seeing their health insurance bills spiking, leading to what has been a documented slide in full-time hiring, a drop in consumer discretionary spending, not to mention stagnant and declining real wages. In short: a broad economic contraction (yes, yes, who could have possibly foreseen this).

But how is it that insurers set their prices? As Bloomberg explains, insurers are calculating what to charge for health plans in 2015, which is no simple task. Actuaries can’t easily forecast how often the millions of new Obamacare enrollees will go to a doctor. New federal rules and expensive drugs will also increase costs. Wrong guesses could wipe out profits.

Here is a quick and dirty way to understand why premiums are going up.

As Brandon Smith wrote,

“Regardless of what they might say about us in the future, these are the reasons why we will fight, and our pledges to resist are not empty assertions.  We will stop the course of tyranny from completing in this country and in this era, one way or another.  If this makes us “extremists”, or “terrorists”, then so be it.  I, for one, am tired of the long running game of lies and reserved rhetoric.  They know a fight is coming, and we know a fight is coming.  Let’s just admit it and be done with it.

Their greatest weakness is that they have to use deceit, propaganda, media monopoly, and false flag violence in order to convince the public that they are the “right side”.  All we have to do is continue telling the truth, and stand fast…”

New Mexico WIPP nuclear storage facility essentially ‘a huge dirty bomb’ waiting to explode (Natural News, July 5, 2014):

Very few Americans who don’t live near it have ever heard of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), a federal nuclear waste repository approximately 26 miles east of Carlsbad, New Mexico, but some experts are saying that something very serious happened there recently — something that could affect tens of millions of Americans. However, you’re not likely to read much about it in the institutional media.

According to the Carlsbad Current-Argus, a local newspaper, “traces of radiation” were found in February northwest of the WIPP following tests by the Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center, a division of the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University. The tests showed “evidence of trace amounts of americium and plutonium on an air filter” at a nearby sampling station off the WIPP access road.
