    The solar storm of 2012 was an unusually large and strong coronal mass ejection (CME) event that occurred on July 23 that year. It missed the Earth with a margin of approximately nine days, as the equator of the Sun rotates around its own axis with a period of about 25 days.[1] The region that produced the outburst was thus not pointed directly towards the Earth at that time.     Tmatsi, we can enlighten you, but only up to a point. The BoM has admitted it will not and can not share it’s full methodology, which is profoundly unscientific, but just what we’ve come to expect.

    They homogenize using roughly ten or so stations which are picked from the surrounding 1,000 km (I’m not kidding) by some magical mathematical checking procedure which finds the ones which “are the same” for the five or so years before some inhomogeneity or questionable event at a site. So the system “fishes” for these magical sites and uses different sites potentially each round. It may ignore nearby stations and choose ones further away.

    “The methodology process to making the hottest on record chart is “secret “.
    No one can reproduce the process to produce the hottest on record chart!
    So yea it’s rigged!
