US Escalates Troop Buildup on Russian Border:

The United States is continuing to encircle Russia with American troops deployed on its border in areas likely to cause further tensions between Russia, the U.S., and its European allies.

From Newsweek

“The U.S. announced Thursday the arrival of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in a Polish NATO outpost located about 100 miles from Russia’s militarized enclave of Kaliningrad. The troops are part of Washington’s latest effort to bolster allied nation’s against what they perceive to be a military threat from neighboring Russia. Moscow, however, has accused the U.S. and its NATO allies of undermining Russia’s own security by surrounding it with hostile forces.”

The move has deeply frustrated Russia, a country constantly attempting to launch a partnership with the United States.

“This creates prerequisites that may eventually enable them to create a certain stronghold. We will surely not turn a blind eye on this. We will take retaliatory measures,” said Vladimir Shamanov, head of the defense committee for Russia’s lower house of parliament, according to the state-run Tass Russian news agency“Not just personnel, but combat equipment. For instance, the group of Iskanders, including that in Kaliningrad, may be increased.”

The “Iskanders” Shamanov is referring to are, in fact, nuclear-capable ballistic missiles. Russia has been deploying them close to its borders as an attempt to deter NATO forces. Despite this, the U.S. continues its encirclement policy, all while America’s corporate media pretends to believe its increasingly questionable narrative that the current Trump administration was elected at the behest of Russia’s leadership.

Western media outlets continually portray Russia as the aggressor in the region, for example, through its most recent war drills (despite existing as an entity in that geographic location). However, a simple look at a world map will show that American troops are being deployed thousands upon thousands of miles away from their homeland.

Unsurprisingly, Newsweek reported that Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said the U.S. was “preparing for the aggression” by stationing the 2nd Cavalry Regiment across Russia’s border without removing the military equipment of U.S. forces already posted there. He said he believed this violated the 1997 NATO-Russia Founding Act, which famously states that “NATO and Russia do not consider each other as adversaries.

Aside from China, Russia is America’s number one arch-rival, as the two countries are vying for control of some of the most oil-rich nations in the world. But perhaps America’s decision to deploy troops to Russia’s border after it has almost all but completely taken over the Middle East is nothing short of an inexplicable coincidence. People on either side of this military buildup should be concerned with the global implications of these developments.
