Three Explosions Occur Near German Soccer Team Bus, One Player Injured:

Update: German Police provide more details and confirm Marc Batra is “ok” but in a state of shock:

  • *POLICE: THREE EXPLOSIONS OCCURRED NEAR GERMAN SOCCER TEAM BUS

The incident reportedly took place around six miles away from the Westfalenstadion in Hochsten, as the team left their hotel. Bild also report a device was planted on the street, which exploded and shattered windows on the bus.

As we detailed earlier, professional German soccer team Borussia Dortmund have confirmed their team bus has been involved in an explosion ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Monaco with defender Marc Bartra reported to have been taken to hospital.

Translated: “Bomb explosion on the team bus at the team hotel. Player in security. No danger in the and at the stadium. More information to follow.”

According to Bild, an explosive was deposited on the street in front of the bus although police have yet to give any more details.

Reports in Germany named the injured person as Spain international Bartra, with the 26-year-old having been taken to a local hospital,  where his injuries are thought to be ‘superficial.’
