Darwin Sorells had been sentenced in January 2013 to six years in prison but was released early, the spokesman added. Other details were not immediately available.

Aldridge, who was 32 years old, was pushing her baby in a stroller down a Chicago street when she was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight. Aldridge, who was returning home after registering her three oldest children for school, died of her injuries.

According to police, two men were shooting at a third man but missed, striking Aldridge instead. Her baby was not injured.
