– Record snowfall in Salt Lake City
Breaks 93-year-old record
A major winter storm hammered northern Utah early Monday, clogging interstate highways with wet, heavy snow, slowing traffic to a crawl in the mountain passes and leaving nearly 10,000 homes and businesses without power.
The 6.9 inches of snow reported at the Salt Lake City Airport broke the previous record for the day of 5.8 inches set in 1922.
