Snow causes travel chaos across Scotland

Snow causes travel chaos across Scotland:

In addition to the snow, the Environment Agency has issued 200 flood warnings covering much of the UK.

Sudden heavy snowfall last night led to road closures across Scotland with gridlock traffic in the worst affected areas. Some motorists abandoned their cars.

Meanwhile, downpours across the UK – from Swansea to the Isle of Man – caused chaos for motorists and even saw a school bus crash when a bridge collapsed.

As rising floodwaters sweep across Cumbria, Worcester is enduring the ‘worst flooding in the village’ in centuries, according to local residents.

The Met Office says it expects up to 200 mm (7.9 inches) of rainfall in the northwest region of Cumbria, especially over exposed mountains.

The Met Office issued its highest red rain warning for northwest England and southwest Scotland.
