While the world was focused on the content of Yellen’s Thursday speech in Amherst for clues on whether the Fed Chair would back off her disturbingly dovish outlook on the world, what was the real surprise was the delivery: as we showed previously, there was a very troubling 100 second interval at the very end of the 50 minute, 5,000+ word speech, in which the 69-year old Yellen suddenly seemed unable to read the words on the page, was rereading the same phrase over and over, paused for long stretches at a time, and then had a violent reaction that forced her to end her speech prematurely. Watch it again below.

In the aftermath of the incident, a narrative was quickly cobbled together that Yellen had suffered from dehydration, but based on her actions and behavior, that seems improbable.

Back in July we learned that the Pentagon’s effort to train and equip properly “vetted” Syrian rebels to combat ISIS had suffered an embarrassing setback when the group’s commander and deputy commander were captured by al-Nusra.

“We, and the Sunni people in Syria, will not allow their sacrifices to be offered on a golden platter to the American side,” the group said, on the way to advising the US to give up on the program.

UNITED NATIONS, United States (AFP) — The Islamic State group is making inroads in Afghanistan, winning over a growing number of sympathizers and recruiting followers in 25 of the country’s 34 provinces, a UN report said Friday.

The militant group, which controls large areas of Syria and Iraq, has been trying to establish itself in Afghanistan, challenging the Taliban on their own turf.

Afghan security forces told UN sanctions monitors that about 10 percent of the Taliban insurgency are IS sympathizers, according to the report by the UN’s Al-Qaeda monitoring team.

I never really loved the game “tag” as a youth, although I never thought for a second it was particularly dangerous or violent. My emotional and/or physical state certainly never felt threatened.

In contrast, I loved dodgeball. It was the highlight of my day every single time we were allowed to play it. I wasn’t a particularly big or strong kid, and I certainly wasn’t the best player, but I loved it nonetheless. Everybody did.

Dodgeball is like going into war compared to “tag,” yet for a Washington state school district, “tag” is simply to “emotionally and physically” damaging to be played during recess.

If you want to write a textbook on how a nation can raise a generation of terrified, pampered children who will grow up to be docile, apathetic adults, this is it.

The saudi version of events does not wash. But enough information is available to decipher the most probable reality: The massive security forces (150 heavily armed security officers) accompanying an un scheduled visit by a Saudi Prince caused a mass panic.

As I predicted, the death toll has now hit 2,000 and is still climbing

UPDATE: Despicable: Saudi army blocked all access to hospitals. UPDATE: With 2,000 confirmed dead, some countries are reporting that only 20 percent of missing people are accounted for, which means the death toll could go much higher than 2,000. This is an impossible scenario absent a massive panic – possibly caused on purpose.
