Snow Arrives Early In Northwoods

Snow arrives early in Northwoods (FOX 11, Oct 4, 2014):

NORTHWOODS – Parts of Wisconsin saw their first flakes of snow for the season Saturday morning as temperatures dipped below freezing.

The accumulating snow was basically confined to the Northwoods where as much as eight-tenths of an inch was detected in Arbor Vitae in Vilas County. Antigo in Langlade County recorded one-tenth of an inch.

Pictures were submitted to FOX 11 by viewers and posted on Facebook.

The first snowfall arrived nearly a month ahead of when residents usually experience any accumulation.

The average date for the first snow fall measuring at least one-tenth of an inch in Green Bay and Appleton is around November 11 and 12 respectively, according to the National Weather Service.
