The Drought Goes From Bad To Catastrophic

–  The Drought Goes From Bad To Catastrophic (ZeroHedge, Aug 2, 2014):

As we previously commented, when scientists start using phrases such as “the worst drought” and “as bad as you can imagine” to describe what is going on in the western half of the country, you know that things are bad. However, in recent weeks the dreadful situation in California has gone from bad to catastrophic as the U.S. Drought Monitor reported that more than half of the state is now in experiencing ‘exceptional’ drought, the most severe category available. And most of the state – 81% – currently has one of the two most intense levels of drought.

Russian Oligarchs Wave Goodbye To Visa, Switch To Chinese Credit Card

Russian Oligarchs Wave Goodbye To Visa, Switch To Chinese Credit Card (ZeroHedge, Aug 2, 2014):

So much for the “Russia is becoming increasingly isolated” meme that the West would like many to believe. As Russia continues to sign de-dollarization deals and trade agreements with its BRICS allies while pushing ahead with retaliatory actions against the US and Europe, it appears the ‘sanctioned’ friends of Putin are taking matters into their own hands. Billionaire oligarch Gennady Timchenko, among the first to be hit by travel bans and asset freezes by the US, has decided to tear up his Visa and Mastercard, shifting all his credit cards to China’s UnionPay, noting that “in some ways it is more secure than Visa – at least the Americans can’t reach it.”

First Ever Ebola Case On US Soil As Patient Lands In Atlanta; CDC Urges Calm – Live Feed

First Ever Ebola Case On US Soil As Patient Lands In Atlanta; CDC Urges Calm – Live Feed (ZeroHedge, Aug 2, 2014):

A plane carrying Dr. Kent Brantly, the American doctor who contracted Ebola while treating patients in West Africa, landed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia, at around 11am this morning – the first ever case of Ebola on US soil. He is being escorted to Emory Hospital under police escort. His colleague Nancy Writebol will arrive later on a separate flight as the planes are equipped to deal with one quarantined patient at a time. As ABC reports, both are listed in “serious but stable condition.” The CDC’s director explained the infected patients pose little risk to others, adding “these are American citizens. American citizens have a right of return. I certainly hope people’s fear doesn’t trump their compassion.” What is perhaps raising that fear among Americans (and frankly the world after yesterday’s WHO warning of “high risks of spread to other countries”) is the fact that, as Reuters reports, more than 100 health workers fighting Ebola have contracted it themselves.

India Slams US Global Hegemony By Scuttling Global Trade Deal, Puts Future Of WTO In Doubt

India Slams US Global Hegemony By Scuttling Global Trade Deal, Puts Future Of WTO In Doubt (ZeroHedge, Aug 1, 2014):

In the last few days a new and curious question has emerged: would India embrace the US/Japan axis while foregoing its natural Developing Market, and BRICS, allies, Russia and China. We now have a clear answer and it is a resounding no, because in what was the latest slap on the face of now crashing on all sides US global hegemony, earlier today India refused to sign a critical global trade dea. Specifically, India’s unresolved demands led to the collapse of the first major global trade reform pact in two decades. WTO ministers had already agreed the global reform of customs procedures known as “trade facilitation” in Bali, Indonesia, last December, but were unable to overcome last minute Indian objections and get it into the WTO rule book by a July 31 deadline. WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo told trade diplomats in Geneva, just two hours before the final deadline for a deal lapsed at midnight that “we have not been able to find a solution that would allow us to bridge that gap.

“Genocide Is Permissible” Muses Times Of Israel, Promptly Retracts (ZeroHedge, Aug 1, 2014):

The Times Of Israel has removed a provocatively-titled blog post after huge blowback, denunciations, and ridicule across social media. The post – “When Genocide Is Permissible” (in full below) – concludes, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clearly stated at the outset of this incursion that his objective is to restore a sustainable quiet for the citizens of Israel. We have already established that it is the responsibility of every government to ensure the safety and security of its people. If political leaders and military experts determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is through genocide is it then permissible to achieve those responsible goals? Removal or not, we are sure this will do nothing to endear Israel to the world.

Russia And India Begin Negotations To Use National Currencies In Settlements, Bypassing Dollar

BRICS-happy

Russia And India Begin Negotations To Use National Currencies In Settlements, Bypassing Dollar (ZeroHedge, July 31, 2014):

Over the past 6 months, there has been much talk about the strategic proximity between Russia and China, made even more proximal following the “holy grail” gas deal announced in May which would not have happened on such an accelerated time frame had it not been for US escalation in Ukraine.

And yet little has been said about that other just as crucial for the “new BRIC-centric world order” relationship, that between Russia and India. That is about to change when yesterday the Russian central bank announced that having been increasingly shunned by the west, Russia discussed cooperation with Reserve Bank of India Executive Director Shrikant Padmanabhan. The punchline: India agreed to create a task group to work out a mechanism for using national currencies in settlements. And so another major bilateral arrangement is set up that completely bypasses the dollar.

‘Scorched Earth’: How Israel Converted 40% Of Gaza Into A Wasteland Of Rubble

Gaza boom

–  “Scorched Earth”: How Israel Converted 40% Of Gaza Into A Wasteland Of Rubble (ZeroHedge, July 31, 2014):

While the latest ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will come and go, something far more insidious is taking place in Gaza : as the Daily Beast reports, “The Israeli military, relentlessly and methodically, is driving people out of the 3-kilometer (1.8 mile) buffer zone it says it needs to protect against Hamas rockets and tunnels. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the buffer zone eats up about 44 percent of Gaza’s territory.”

Neonicotinoids To Be Banned In American Northwest And Hawaii In Effort To Save Pollinators

Neonicotinoids to be banned in American Northwest and Hawaii in effort to save pollinators (Natural News, July 31, 2014):

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has decided to end their use of neonicotinoids, an insecticide resembling nicotine that kills a variety of pests and has been proven deadly to the environment.

“We made the decision because we are concerned over the global decline in all pollinators — bees and butterflies,” said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokeswoman Miel Corbett.

By 2016, the agency plans to have completely phased out neonicotinoids, or neonics, for agricultural use throughout Region 1, or the Pacific Northwest. Parts of Region 1 include Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington (click here for map).

Natural News exclusive: Fluoride used in U.S. water supplies found contaminated with lead, tungsten, strontium, aluminum and uranium (Natural News, July 29, 2014):

The sodium fluoride added to U.S. water supplies is contaminated with the toxic elements lead, tungsten and aluminum, a Natural News Forensic Food Labs investigation has revealed. Strontium and uranium were also found in substantial quantities in some samples, raising additional questions about the purity of industrial fluoride used for water fluoridation.

These ICP-MS results, shown below, were determined with the very same ICP-MS laboratory instrumentation used by the FDA and various universities. Mike Adams, director of the lab and one of the world’s leading researchers into heavy metals contamination of foods, conducted the research.

China’s State Media Reveals Unapproved Genetically Modified Rice Is on the Market

China’s State Media Reveals Unapproved Genetically Modified Rice Is on the Market (Sustainable Pulse, July 29, 2014):

CCTV, China’s state broadcaster, has discovered genetically modified rice being sold in two southern provinces, the second such allegation it has made in two years at a time when public opinion seems to have hardened against the technology.

Source: Global Voices

An investigative report aired last Saturday said GM rice was found in the market in southern Hubei and Hunan province, where rice remains the staple food. The allegation by the television network has been substantiated by the Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau after samples taken from the two provinces tested positive for GM traces.

Ebola outbreak may already be uncontrollable; Monsanto invests in Ebola treatment drug company as pandemic spreads

Ebola outbreak may already be uncontrollable; Monsanto invests in Ebola treatment drug company as pandemic spreads (Natural News, July 29, 2014):

A global outbreak of deadly Ebola is underway and has crossed national borders. One infected victim of the horrifying disease flew on international flights, vomiting on board and exposing hundreds of people to the deadly virus which can be transmitted through airborne particles. Ebola has an 8-10 day incubation period, meaning thousands of people could be carrying it right now and spreading it across the cities of the world without even knowing it.

Passengers in Hong Kong and the UK have already shown symptoms of the disease and are being tested, reports USA Today. (2) The Peace Corps has evacuated its volunteers from the region after two were exposed to Ebola. (3)

“Expert claims panic over death of U.S. man in Nigeria is ‘justified'” reports the Daily Mail. (1) “He warned the spread of Ebola could become a global pandemic.”
