Volcanoes Melting West Antarctic Glaciers, Not Global Warming (Ice Age Now, Aug 11, 2014):

“A new study by researchers at the University of Texas, Austin found that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet is collapsing due to geothermal heat, not man-made global warming,” says this article in The Daily Mail.

“Researchers from the UTA’s Institute for Geophysics found that the Thwaites Glacier in western Antarctica is being eroded by the ocean as well as geothermal heat from magma and subaerial volcanoes.

“The geothermal heat under the glaciers is likely a key factor in why the ice sheet is currently collapsing.”

Meanwhile, Antarctic sea ice continues to break records, reaching the highest level since measurements began in 1979.

  1. Volcanos becoming active are not exactly people friendly, either. If the one under Yellowstone erupts, it will wipe out much of the US population and living places…..
    In the west, we live in the Ring of Fire. Should they all awaken, we are just as bad off.
    As it stands, we have nuclear disasters from Japan, Washington state and NM, radioactive poisoning that has killed our fish and food chain, and will soon kill all who won’t heed what is happening. Our air, water, crops, soil……all is being soaked in radioactive poison, guaranteeing death for all. Nobody can say that mess isn’t man made.
    So, the rest of it doesn’t really matter much……does it?
