– TV: Fukushima plant “an undefused bomb for decades to come” — Japan Journalist: They only have the vaguest idea of what happened to 100s of tons of molten fuel — An ongoing crisis on edge of disaster (ENENews, Jan 9, 2014):
Al Jazeera America, Jan. 8, 2014: Is Fukushima at risk for another nuclear disaster? At the Fukushima Daiichi plant, the Tokyo Electric Power Co., or TEPCO, is struggling to contain the ongoing nuclear disaster. […] Fukushima Daiichi itself will remain on the edge of disaster — an undefused bomb for decades to come. “The government said it will take 30 to 40 years to decommission the plant, so there’s always the potential for another problem to come up,” [David McNeill, a journalist who has lived in Japan since 2000 and has been covering the Fukushima disaster from March 2011] said. “And that’s what keeps some people awake at night.”
More from Journalist David McNeill:
- “I think this is an ongoing crisis”
- “What you’ve had is a series of ad hoc strategies designed to deal with the crisis that’s right in front of you”
- “Another major earthquake […] could trigger another radioactive disaster”
- TEPCO only has “the vaguest idea” of where the [100s of tons of] molten fuel sits
This is a nuclear disaster, an ongoing man made poison volcano. Each day, it fires more poisons into the air, the Pacific ocean, the soil and ground waters. It is killing everything, especially our food chain.
Over the past 265 years, man in the west has been able to raise enough food to feed all our people. That is no longer true. Setting the floods, the droughts that plague our nation aside, Fukushima is pouring hot elements into our atmosphere, destroying our way of living and eating forever.
Plutonium was already in our milk by the end of April, 2011. Since then, the problem has gotten steadily worse and our governments have sat by silently while our death warrants have been set into motion. Nobody can stop this, fix it, and they are too full of mendacious fear to speak the truth.
Were it not for this site, and a couple of other international news outlets, we would know nothing. This story doesn’t come with US media. Instead, their fool reporters tell Americans not to worry, the radiation will be “too diluted” to harm us. CBS said that. Even NPR, desperate for funding have joined in the long line of liars.
The most ironic part of all of this is the fact we are facing our own extinction, and all the lies in the world cannot change it.
Thanks for staying on this story.
In case people have forgotten the dead ocean in the gulf from the BP disaster, here is a story about it. It is literally killing people in the gulf. This disaster was also caused by another greedy corporation.
It is another story of corporate genocide. No other term for it.
