NHK via MissingSky101, Nov. 8, 2013 (at 21:30 in): On March 14, the No. 3 reactor at the Daiichi plant suffered a hydrogen explosion just 6 kilometers [~4 miles] from Mitsuko’s house. [Mitsuko Motoi:] “It was like being lifted up off the floor, so rather than explosion, I thought a plane had crashed nearby. So I thought, ‘Oh, this is serious,’ and I went outside and there was nothing nearby. I came back inside and the radio was on. When they said explosion, I thought, ‘Oh, I can’t go out because of the radiation.’”
