Naoto Kan, Prime Minister of Japan on 3/11:

I realized that if all those 10 reactors with 11 spent fuel pools [at Fukushima Daiichi and Daini] all together, if we cannot control them, then we’re going to have a radiation leak into the atmosphere, worse, maybe ten times, even a hundred times worse, than that of the Chernobyl accident.

  1. It seems to be a case of “hand washing” for unfulfilled responsibility. In effect it seems he wishes to imply that he could not have possibly handled the Fukushima emergency any better.

Unfortunately, in asking for an end to Japanese nuclear power, he in effect asks all people to pay for his nuclear incompetence and bumbling of the Fukushima response.

A simple airborne delivery of diesel generator sets to Fukushima would have averted the entire crisis!

Again Sir, you are misinformed and acting inappropriately by issuing calls to scrap ALL nuclear power in Japan.

Would it not be more truthful for you to present first to the people, the economic consequences and implications to the japanese way of life ?
