Donald Trump’s announcement: Release records, I’ll give $5 million to charity (Examiner, Oct 24, 2012):

What is billionaire Donald Trump‘s big announcement about President Obama on Twitter? As promised, Trump tweeted out his story on Oct. 24 and it wasn’t about the Obama divorce papers.

Trump’s full video announcement was posted on YouTube at noon. He asked that Obama release his college records, applications, passport applications and birth records. If the President complies, Trump will give $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice.

“The check will be given within one hour” of the release of these records, stated Trump. He feels that the president will become transparent if he does so. The records must be given by Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. in order to get the charity check. All this hype for $5 million? Apparently it’s a slow news day.

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, Trump posted the information to his Twitter and Facebook accounts, ending days of media hype. On Monday, the billionaire created a buzz by telling his Twitter followers to “stay tuned for my big Obama announcement— probably on Wednesday.”

The news is something he feels will impact the upcoming election. Rumors on social media sites and in the media ranged from Obama’s divorce papers to the president’s supposed cocaine use many years ago.

Trump shot all of the rumors down before his announcement, tweeting early on Wednesday morning, “All predictions re: my 12 o’clock release are totally incorrect.”

What do you think about Donald Trump‘s “big” announcement on Twitter? Will this influence who you vote for on November 6 or was it all hype?
