During an August 3, 2010 Interview on MSNBC by Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks, and MSNBC contributor) Republican Congressman Mike Rogers, member of Select Intelligence Committee and former FBI special agent called for the Capital Punishment for Private Manning for the crime of treason and also said that we should have executed Daniel Ellsberg the leaker of the Pentagon Papers.

[2:48] Congressman Rogers: If he is convicted of treason I absolutely would support capital punishment.

[2:54] Cenk: So would you have supported the execution of Daniel Ellsberg for leaking the Pentagon Papers?

[3:00] Congressman Rogers: Well I don’t know all the circumstances around it, if it was information that certainly put soldiers at risk in the field and he was convicted of treason absolutely, and you know here’s the thing, when something is leaked that you find useful in the media or somebody finds useful in the media that seems to be some moral equivalent of being okay, the problem is it creates this culture of disclosure in the military…

  1. Whistle blowers are the MOST IMPORTANT people out there today. Without them we wouldn`t even know what hit us. We know we are fodder in the big gov machine. At least the knowledge that there are people out there looking behind the scenes of what is shown to us, gives a little hope. Thank you with all my heart.
